Hi Terry and Cindy.

The tensioner for my supercharger came off and flew down the road, and i desperately need my car for work. I am running a 180mm NST kit. NST didnt reply my emails and my work is getting tired of my car being parked in the workshop. If you know the part number, i can go to bearing wholesaler and pick one up. This would help me alot.

Howdy - I've just had the same problem with my tensioner, but Scope was able to help me out. I don't know what vehicle he had the 'spare' tensioner from, but it fitted. And there's your problem - no-one makes a bearing that will go straight on - you'll have to get something from SKF or CBS with a suitable outside diameter, & then get a local engineering works to make up a centre to suit the mounting bracket. The really tricky part is getting something with a suitable speed rating, bearing in mind that, with a 3 - 1 diameter ratio of drive pulley to tensioner, the poor tensioner is doing heaps of revs (at 6500 engine rpm, the tensioner will be doing 19500 rpm!!).

I beleive SCZ is correct, the bearing in them is a "mongrel" size.
We changed one ages ago & I recall we had to adapat something 9dont remember the details, but it was not hard for us to do in our machine shop)

Better get 2 made if you can. The general consensus on the NST kits is they kill tensioners. Or more specifically the bearing. SCZ hit on the reason, mega PRM's and sideways pressure = fail. Coz at 180mm the crank pulley is about as big as it could be, so the tensioners are tiny compared to stock. Which makes the RPM problem worse. Not saying impossible, just tricky.
SCZ's is also std. IIRC. So a little easier to sort.

Aha, Bustin. I thought mine was standard - until I lost the tensioner pulley!! It actually has had an upgrade pulley kit (175mm dia drvive pulley). I didn't find this out until after I bought a standard tensioner pulley from Toyota ($235!!!) that doesn't fit. And, of course, they won't refund, as it had to get sent up from Sydney.
The closest I can find in the bearing books at work is an SKF with a 62mm OD & 1 35mm ID, which gives room to make a mounting piece that can be 'shrink-fitted' (see yor nearest machine shop) to allow retention of the standard mounting bracket. Unfortunately, as it is only rated to 16000 rpm, it will also eventually die. If someone has the contact details for the guy who used to make the kuits, maybe we can find out from him what bearing he used to use.

Is your's a NEVO pulley SCZ? Mine is, and last I heard John had stopped making them to accept a job in the UK.
I'm unsure what the bearing is that came with that.

can we do anything to help sort this out, or is it all fixed????
