How have you mounted your GoPro in an MR2?

Where's the best place to mount a GoPro camera inside and MR2 for a forward facing view.

I bought a suction mount but I have to use all the long bulky bits to get the camera facing the right way, then the slope of the front windscreen doesn't allow you to mount it anywhere.

I don't want to use the sticky mount on the vinyl dash.

Any ideas??

For in car, I mount from the rear window.
External I mount from drivers side quarter glass.

I had the same problem in my road car till I realised that you can actually set the camera to rotate/record 180 degrees and the problem was solved.

I found one of the better spots (if driving solo) was to remove the passenger headrest and attach on the rear window. There's a few different angles from the race day on that link.

Thanks, I was pretty dissappointed the mounting was not better engineered for a sloping front windscreen :-(

I pretty much mounted it in the same position as Dasic1 (thanks Andrew) but what I wanted was an out the front windscreen view.  I'll check out the 180 rotation, thanks.

No not setting it up for Haunted Hills .. ;-) but for the MR2 Nationals in Tassy.

I've also mounted mine upside down from the sunroof with the 180 degree inversion.

This is what I've settled on, not a bad view out the front screen as well.

    Kevin,
I bought a cheap (but great featured) in car camera from Jaycar last weekend. HD (720) resolution. It was $49.
It comes with windscreen suction cup mount, helmet mount and bike handle bar mount, sound, power cord, waterproof case etc.
The interesting feature is the camera is supplied with a clip on holding device. The suction cup mount screws into the clip on rather than the camera itself. This can be fitted so that mounting bracket "screw-in" is at top or bottom of the camera (rather than the "screw-in" being at the base of the camera as per GoPro). As a result the camera mounting bracket can be mounted on the inside of windscreen with the angle bracket pointing down.
You may be able to fabricate something similar (that clips around the camera) for your GoPro so that it can be attached to windscreen and closer to the action rather than at rear of cabin.
if this doesn't make sense let me know and I'll send you some photos.
    cheers
    Steve

I used the rear window and it was quite a nice angle as you can see yourself driving and see through the front window. I also have the suction cup and it will fit on the windscreen of a Spyder. I also mounted mine on the rear engine cover on the RHS with the top down in a clip on youtube, look under "MR2 up Camp Mountain" or Mister2 not sure, anyhow enjoy

I like to stowage box solution.

I found the 180* setup fantastic both in the car and on my mountain bike and generally find it more stable mounted upsidedown.   I have also recently discovered the tether mount giving me the confidence to try some outboard positions.
