ENGINE RATTLE ISSUE

Hi guys,

Stuka just came to have a look at the engine and we noticed a distinct non-constant rattle noise at a certain rpm.

Stuka thinks it may be coming from around the crankshaft area

Any ideas what it could be?

Noticed many people have this same issue which is caused by exhaust leak. looked under the car and low and behold an exhaust leak. will take of the exhaust/ tighten an loose bolts and see what happens

jono when the guys say the exhaust leak they mean there is a bad join between flanges (joints) on a section of the exhaust, you probably have 3 exhaust sections. if this is the issue the noise will be caused by the flanges rattling against each other. it wont leak fluid just exhaust gasses. the fluid you see is probably just unburnt fuel. if you tighten all the bolts on each of the flanges then this might solve the issue, you will probably need a spanner on each side. if the exhaust gasket is wasted you might need to replace that too.

Yea I have 3 sections, one section I can see a tear in the welding joints due to the force of the exhaust being knocked back in. I'll have a closer inspection tomorrow when its lighter!

Taken off the exhaust, no more rattling noise from what I can hear, found a few leaks! glad I sorted this out on my own lol
