Cold start issues

Hi Everyone,
Had some issues starting up my car (sw20 N/A genIII) recently had has slowly gotten worse. Starting my car in the morning it usually idles at 2000k and eventually warms up.

Recently the car sputters and sounds like its struggling to start up/running very rough, revving under 1000k. Takes about a min before the revs increase to 1.5k and warm up properly. Once warmed up, the car run fine. Restarts with no problems when warm too.

Ive read it could be the cold start injector / sensor or time switch? Getting mixed info on the net. Bringing it to the mechanic soon but worried its doing engine damage.

Thanks heaps

I had one of these same cars with this problem and it turned out to be the cold start injector as you suggest.
When it splutters on your first start up attempt try turning it off for about 10 seconds and try starting it again.
If it starts ok the second time it is probably the cold start sensor that is faulty.

In my case it only behaved like this occasionally so I didn't worry about it as I just turned it off and tried again and it always started ok the second time.

Thread hijack. What does the CS Time switch do exactly? I'm having similar issues to what wiz described (coughs out on first try, leave it for a few seconds then starts).

    Cheers.

Summary: The cold start time switch only turns the cold start injector on and off.  The cold start injector only operates when the starter is engaged (key held in start position)
