ANNUAL ALL-JAPANESE DAY SUNDAY 9 JUNE 2013
The All Japanese Day, Sunday, June 9, 2012 - Details
Following on the success of our participation in the All Japanese Day at Banyo last year the Club will again be attending this major event in 2013. Alan Taylor, the principal event organiser, is excited to have us back, and again the MR2's will add that distinctive combination of class and awesomeness that helps the event retain its premier status on the car scene in Brisbane.
There
will not be a Run Sheet produced for the day so here are the points you need to know to plan to attend:
1. Date is Sunday the 9th of June 2012. Venue is the Earnshaw State College, Banyo.
2. The organising committee will be setting up from 6.00am and have asked that if we can do it they would prefer us to arrive on the site by 7.30am. Cars can come and go as they like all day for those who like to sleep in, but to ensure a good space the "by 7.30am" arrival time should be respected. Over 450 cars are expected on the day.
3. Spectators can enter from 9.00am. Allen was really strong about this being open for everyone no matter what condition their car is in. Allen stressed that is not just about "show ponies" or "best car on a trailer", so whatever you have just bring it. We might even let a certain Honda Prelude park near us if they are nice and buy us all ice creams.

4. Cost to display is free, but a gold coin donation per car is expected. Compare this to an average of $20 to $40 per car on display for other events and you will see one attraction immediately.
5. This event is not about awards and white glove inspections, but is an opportunity to display what you have in an atmosphere where enthusiasts can talk, swap stories, etc.; and see some rare Japanese cars.
6. We will be on grass, not concrete, so bring chairs and we will also have Club signs and a marquee.
Meeting Arrangements: The meeting point for the Club will be the same as last year, namely the Shell Service Station/McDonalds on the western side of the Gateway Motorway at Nudgee. You can get to it either by travelling along the Gateway Motorway towards the Sunshine Coast or from the end of Nudgee Road before Nudgee Road goes onto the Gateway Motorway.
There is a short back way from the Shell Service Station to the site, and to avoid the congestion on Tufnell Rd and Toombull Rd all you have to do is get on the Gateway Motorway and head north until you reach the RV point. You can also use Nudgee Rd but as per last year I can't see it being as quick as the Gateway.
So the
final arrangements are everyone to the RV point by
7.25am. We will
depart at 7.30am. When we reach the entry gate (right hand turn from Earnshaw Rd) you will be given a registration form which has to be completed and handed in to the registration tent. We been asked to park in a line about 2.5 meters apart so doors can be opened, cars don't get dinged, etc.
If you are late then just come straight to the site. We will leave a couple of spots vacant for stray MR2's but any problems then call my mobile which is on previous Run Sheets.
Please put your name on the separate "Roll Call" post above. See you all at the RV point with your cars gleaming.
