Amp under seat

Hey, just wondering what my options are for a under seat mounted 4 channel, 200w per channel amp?
 
I'm trying to go for a stealth install.

    Is the car a hard top? Don't forget that targas eventually leak and may get pretty wet under the seat sometimes....

    have you looked into putting it in the boot??. i looked into the seat option but cant remember why i didnt do it.

    It's a targa but I think I'll have greater problems than my amp failing if my seals are leaking that much!
     
    Yeah I've thought about the boot, but I didn't want to run cables through the engine bay if I could avoid it, and I don't want to lose boot space (not that I ever use it).

    /\ you can still use the boot, just make a false floor  where the boot dips down in the middle then flush mount or recess mount the amp in there so that the boot can still be used.

    Some people fit them in the frunk too. This would have the least interference as its the shortest power option and actually very short to the speakers too. There is space however it's minimal.
     
    Is there any particular reason you don't want them behind the seat? 
     

     
    That's my old set up, took me a weekend to knock it up using MDF and fibre glass. Relatively easy job and looked neat and tidy. Cost was around $80 for both the sub box and facade. The only reason it sticks out so far was to keep the two facades level. This was the biggest I could fit with the seats all the way back but maximises the size of the sub box. If it was just an amp it could sit further back but you'd have a shelf where the old 6x9s used to sit.

    I have had an amp mounted underneath the passenger seat of an SW20 before and found that on bumpy/rough roads you could feel it under the seat (via your bottom) It was quite a slim amp as well.

    If you install amp in rear boot, you can get a decent power feed from the main cable in the engine bay fuse box.  Also, you can run cables into the cabin above the rear wheel arch, between the outside panel and the engine bay side panel.  It comes out near the seatbelt area.

    Ok I've decided to go for http://www.alpine.com.au/showItem.php?item_id=273
     
    I figure I can try to mount it under the passenger seat (I don't think it will fit) but it should be small enough to mount behind the seat (while keeping full range of movement), and if that fails, the boot.

    If seat travel is your worry, don't. Mine was far deeper than just an amp but it had full movement aft with normal tilt.

    That Amp personally looks a little too high and you will have issues unless you jack up the rear of the seat. I've got a Pioneer GM-D510M under the passenger seat and the seat 'just' touches the top of the amp, enough to only take a coat of the paint off. I guess if you cut the carpet out you'd get a little more depth to it, but I'm not a fan of chopping the carpet up in the event of selling/changing things around.

    Heres what i have done, i didnt recomend this earlier cause you said you wanted a stealth install, this can be seen if looked from the side window. i have one on each side and have cut into the carpet as can be seen in the pics. if you store you targa shades there it will be hidden.
    i did it this way so i can store my shades as well

    I have looked into under seat amp install but max clearance is only bout 47mm making it hard to find a DECENT quality amp in such a low profile as most are bout 52mm an that's with removing the underlay.
    Boot install would be good option just be careful running cables as u may induce noise.. Could poss put cables in flex metal conduit
