Cam cover gaskets 3SGTE

I'm wanting to reseal the cam cover and so just wondering if I need to also replace the GASKET, CYLINDER HEAD COVER, NO.2 [11214‑88381] in addition to the main gasket GASKET, CYLINDER HEAD COVER [11213‑88381]?

I'll need RTV also correct?

Any advice would be appreciated on this job!

Or you can rock down to the local hardware store and pick up some stainless M6 hex bolts and washers and save yourself some dollars :)

The manual says to put sealant in the corners where the gasket goes over the cam bearing at the ends.
However it is a good idea to also put a small smear all around the edges on the head, especially on the edge that is towards the rear of the car.

But you still need to get the rubber backed toyota washers, which delta include in the kit.

But if your getting the lot from twosrus, prob cheapest that way.

Split washers do exactly the same job though, and never go hard.  Still looks shiny as well :D

I like the sound of the rubber washers more, less vibration/noise etc.
and probably going through Amayama on this one, just waiting to hear back

The Americans use a crap replacement washer with their kit.

I dont think anyone would have good condition factory washers at this age of our cars.

Just using bolts and washers without the factory washers or even the American washers will compress the gasket too much and cause it to leak.

The ACL full gasket kit also came with new rubber washers, on top of which I have some nice stainless washers.
