need help with fitment on my 1990 sw20

hey guys my name is jess, very new here.
so i have a 1990 jdm N/A sw20.
recently sold my 16" wantanbees that came on the car.
now im looking for 17's or 18's.
some nice work XD9 18x8 +25 and 18x9 +25 with 225x40 tyres how come up.
tried some 17s on the other day and they hit my front suspension badly, but that could have been because of the high offset. so my question is will they fit with out hitting my front suspension and my rear sway bar and or anything i have not fore seen. i will get my fenders rolled.
any and all help would be appreciated greatly.  *edit* stock suspension, but looking to upgrade to coil overs later on.

cheers jess.

I would try and organise a test fit. Best way of knowing for sure as I have found - different wheels are slightly different.

I run a 17x8 +30 and that sticks out about 1-2mm from guards so I would magine an 18x8 +25 would stick out 7mm.

Obviously could dial camber in, but unsure if you would want to do that.

I would try and find something around those widths in a +30  offset (especially if you're plan on running coilovers in the future)

    thanks for the info chase.
i do plan on rolling my guards so there is very minimal tyre would poke out.
test fit is soon im just worried about hitting the front suspension.
and my fenders arent rolled ATM so test fit my be inaccurate.

    hope to hear some response.

If you are just rolling the lips of the guards I still don't think it would fit (unless you pump them out slightly)-  you may have to run negative camber, but you then have the chance of hitting the suspension when going to coilovers (Coilovers give less room then standard struts)

Have a look at this as a guide:

Front flushness: 10.35mm out from flush

Rear flushness: 10.35mm out from flush

    Front optimal flushness: 35.35mm

    Rear optimal flushness: 35.35mm

Front suspension proximity: 15.65mm from possibly touching the suspension
so i would hang 10mm out all round, could roll that? 15mm of touching the front suspension is bad but yeah?...
    very sorry for my noobness.

Correct. It would stick out from the guards ~10mm. That is a lot in my books and possibly not much for other people.

Rolling the guards usually refers to just rolling the inner lip. If you want to fit wheels that are estimated to fit out of your guards (out from flush) you would need to pump them out or even flare them out slightly.
I personally am not fan of this as many times it ruins the lines of the car.

Your best bet would be speaking to someone who rolls guards and explaining it to them and they can advise you of what cannot be done.

Edit: You didnt happen to buy a Dark Green hard top on gold watanabes from Cannington (in WA)?

Sure that dark green hardtop of which you speak was for sale for long time in SA?

    Omori boost gauge?

This one I assumed this was, was  a NA that was for sale a bit more locally to me. I actually think they weren't genuine wantanabes but Black Racing Wheels.

Cant imagine there are that many SW20s going around with that style of wheel...

Either way to OP. If you are in WA I have  various wheels with varied offsets in my possession all  are 17s though.... (+22, +30, +35, +38 and I think +45)

Oh and I missed your question, 15mm clearance away from strut is plenty.

i did buy that green hard top on gold wantanbees, and they turned out to be real as well.
yeah didnt suit the car for sure. so really these wheels should fit as long as i talk to some one who rolls guards and see what he can do with out pumping my guards.
message me what you have chase, very interested.
im in bunbury but have family in perth willing to sus wheels for me.
thanks for all the help chase.
