-Totenkopf-'s black SW20 (56k beware!)

Finally got to fit up my Volk wheels for the first time since owning them (Had to wait on the correct lug nuts). Yes the rest of the car looks like poo poo currently, readying it for a new paint job to fix up any minor dings. The original paint was actually still in quite good nick :D

Wheels are 18x8 front, 18x9 rear. The 45 profile tyres are a bit tall for an mr2, and at the moment its sitting quite high. Could probably drop it another inch with the coilovers and still have it driveable, although when these tyres are dead, I'll get some 35 or 40 profile ones in their place. With the side skirts refitted it'd probably make it look a little lower anyway for the time being.

I'll put some other details as to my project in this thread later tonight.

Yeah, these were just the tyres on the rims when I bought them. Got a tonne of tread left so not really worth replacing them till they wear down. I'll live with it for the time being, then get some 265 wide rears and 225 wide front (fronts are already currently 225, dont think anything wider will fit). Current tyres are yoko advan gp as well, so some decent tread, so not worth just throwing them.

Car will be painted the same colour, yes, black. Will be a clear over base job. Hopefully might be happening next weekend, or the weekend following. The reason for the red bonnet is that my black one had gauges mounted on it. This was a little too bogan style for me, but removing them meant there would be holes left where the wiring etc ran, so I opted to get a replacement bonnet. As you can see, the underside of it I have already had spray painted black, so that the top side can be painted on car.

Anyway, I guess posting a heap of pictures of a half together car with no engine and primer all over it means very little to people, so I guess I'll speak a little more about my car and my plans for it.

I bought my first MR2 back in 2003. It was a 1991 model turbo, aquamarine pearl in colour. It had a fairly hard life in my possession and I learnt a few things that one shouldn't do whilst driving it. At one stage it went for a trip off Mt Nebo into some lantana brush. Another time it understeered at low speed into a guard rail on a rough roundabout. I finally got all this damage repaired and then someone ran up the rear of it, and wrote it off. I then bought a mates GT4 that was for sale at the time, but just couldn't get over the feel of an MR2, so I sold that, and the hunt was on again for another MR2.

I found my current car in Sydney, it was supposed to have forged pistons, forged rods, HKS metal headgasket, ARP headstuds, however, on further inspection, AFTER I bought it (when I bought it, it was a bit of a random incident, myself and two mates decided to head to the gold coast one night in mid 2005, we ended up in Sydney, I stayed with a friend of my fathers for a couple of days whilst I looked at the MR2 and made purchase) the only thing it did have from that list, was the forged pistons. It already had a GT35R on it, which they'd failed to water cool and subsequently died around a year after I bought the car. I purchased a replacement GT35R and this time, did the right thing and hooked up some water cooling to it. It had a custom exhaust manifold (mild steel tubular) and custom 3" exhaust, with a turbosmart 45mm progate external wastegate.

The interior was already retrimmed when I bought it, although up close it isn't perfect as some patches have begun to lift away etc.

Without further ado, a few pictures prior to me ripping it into a million pieces, which I'll then follow by the upcoming modlist and plans for the car.

    Before I bought it:

Pic a few days after I picked it up:

Vid of some drag runs, previous to purchase:
    http://members.optusnet.com.au/noddyco/jamesdivx2.avi

Pics not long before I pulled it apart, ie, October last year - pretty much same as when bought, just with diff boost controller, new turbo and a couple of other little pieces:

Anyway, the time came where I had settled into a new longterm job, and had some surplus cash I could spend. Initially when I bought the car I had plans for a 400whp car, although this all went out the window when I realised I'd have to pull the engine due to being lied to about the current modifications of the car. I decided to bite the bullet and built a wicked strong engine. Below I'll list the modification list that the car will be returning with.

    Long engine:

    * 5s block, torque plate bored, honed, deglazed, vatted, cleaned, painted, assembled
    * Chromoly ductile iron sleeves.

    *Earls remote oil thermostat
    *All required earls fittings.

*4x 3" alloy mandrel bends (for cooler piping)
    *Assorted silicon joiners
    *HKS racing type II BOV

*pictures of reservoir etc to come, when I get off my lazy arse and take a couple of pictures, might just wait till I get the whole setup together and fitted though*

    Intake Manifold etc:

*RMR side feed 75MM intake manifold
    *Edelbrock universal racing throttlebody (75mm)

    Turbo/Exhaust:

*Custom leads (still need to get these, once engine arrives at my door)
    *MSD Tach adapter (PN 8920)

*need to get pictures of the other bits*

    Drivetrain, suspension & related:

    *Urethane bushes.
    *Buddyclub Racespec suspension.

    *Speedsource engine mounts
    *Speedsource brass shifter bushes
*Possibly Quaife torsen LSD to come (will probably order this Monday)
*Volk 18x8/18x9 GT-C w/ Yoko Advan GP tyres.
*ATS Racing upgraded inner CV cages/race.

*pictures of the other gear to come*

Brakes:(further upgrades will probably be required in the future)

*Replacement DBA slotted + crossdrilled rotors for 92+ calipers.
*Replacement brake pads (gotta work out what im getting yet).
    *APP braided brake lines.

Various odds and ends and interior bits:

*Turbosmart E-boost boost controller, however, I'll probably be using closed loop boost control on the SM4 now.
    *Innovate LC-1 wideband w/ gauge.
    *TRD 300KM/hr cluster
*Water temp, oil temp, oil pressure gauges.

Also as is evident, the car is undergoing some bodywork, respray in black again, mainly to fix any small dents. The factory paint was actually still quite good, as you can see in the other pictures. Anyway, I gotta go to bed, more to come at a later date.

    [xx(]

Should be good, same kit is going back on. Fresh coat of black paint, should look pretty much the same, minus the bogan gauges + volk GT-C's and with about 200KW more (Up from ~240KW) power.

Amount of money I've sunk into the thing, I hope it doesn't disappoint either.

Im biting the bullet and ordering the Quaife LSD tomorrow. Bye bye $1500 more cash. Then add on fitment cost [xx(]
