Sudden Unexpected Clutch loss = no hot date tonight.
Hey guys,
My clutch just randomly gave out. Before this occurrence, which I'm about to describe, the clutch was feeling fine. Was starting to feel a little bit tired, but never had an issue with full throttle, full revs and decent shifts.
I just pulled out of an intersection, gave second gear a bit of a half throttle squirt, but as it approached 4.5k the revs rose quickly. It felt odd, so I quickly shifted into third. As I eased the throttle on, the revs jumped right up but the car didn't accelerate.
I pulled over and checked the fluid - fine.
I tried to move the car. It couldn't handle more than about 1/8 throttle and 2,500rpm before the clutch started slipping away and smelling quite funky.
Can anyone suggest a reason for such a sudden, unexpected loss of clutch? I don't think it's worn, as before this occurrence it has been driving fine, with almost no sign of slip unless you were treating it unkindly (rarely).
If this is a case of required clutch replacement, can anyone recommend a good workshop in Melbourne South Easter Suburbs?
Any advice would be greatly appreciate in this depressing time of emotional, heart breaking, despair.
Glen
