Battery Light and Exhaust Temperature Light on at the same time

Hi Guys,

I accidently left my Fog lights on for 3 hours and when I came back I thought the batter would surely be dead, but to my luck it started first time.

Anyway I started to drive and noticed taht the Battery light and the Exhaust Temperature light were on. When I got home I read up and saw that if the Exhaust Temperature light is accompanied by the Battery light it means that the internal temperature of the catalytic convertor is above normal. This can't be the case because this morning when I tunred on the car both lights came on again, I doubt the temperature would have been above normal.

Any ideas guys? I have a 1992 MR2 GT with the 3SGTE engine, JDM version.
