Honda Accord V6L ~ 1999-2003. Search for for one that has been looked after. Even @ 200k, they are still very strong in the motor. Weaknesses in the gearbox are common, though may have been done.

Common cheap reliable cars: WRX, EVO, Honda VTi-Rs, Nissans coupes, Suzuki Swift, Celica BMW 3 series (bit more dosh), Golf, Subies
    Something different: Galant, Saab turbo

It's hard when there's no specific preference lol (maybe what you want the thread to be)

Celica GT4 ST185. They're cheap these days. Can get a mechanically decent car with faded paint or something for that price. Don't expect to buy into perfection for that budget.

I would go the BMW 3 series, BMW's brake and handle really well, my X5 pulls up faster than my MR2 and I have a brake upgrade.

Also they have higher safety ratings so better protection for your family.

Toyota soarer, 2.5 litre, twin turbo straight six. enough said.
automatic (wife can drive.lol), has massive front doors (for baby seat, ins and outs etc)  massive boot (pram storage). almost everything is electronic, plus if its kept stockish, its also very quiet and comfortable..
and the best its in your budget..

    Hi Mate
I am putting my 1989 AE92 Trueno Sprinter up for sale. It is immaculate condition with 4 seats and has the baby seat anchor in it too. Supercharged 4AGE heaps of fun to drive.
122250Km air, ps electrices. Selling in Sydney NSW July 2013 rego. Also have a heap of panels and standard suspension as has tein coil overs. Be looking at $7000 with all the spare parts.
If your interested can send you photos.

Cant believe no-one has suggested a Toyota Aristo (twin turbo varient)...
When I was looking some months ago - saw quiite few examples for the $5500-$8000 mark (and obviously some for more and a couple of NA's for less).

I would be weary of some euro cars around that budget as some could end up costing big dollars in repair bills and specialist mechanics in the future...
