EOI Spyder Roll bars/ Roll cages

Have been planning on doing this for awhile and finally pulled the finger out.
I am trying to get a few people together for a group buy of a roll bar similar in style to the one of choice in the US http://www.bethania-garage.com/spyder.htm
To get one of these to OZ is about $700 in freight so we are hitting up the local Roll cage makers and trying to get a better price by getting a few in as a group buy. This way the design and planning costs are spread out over a few people . I am in Sydney and have 3 manufacturers very close to me that I know of so we will be taking as much info as we can to each of them to get some basic quotes on costs. I would like it to be as close as possible to the Harddog ones as they have a very good rep in the US. They are bolt in and should be able to be complianced as MX5s have a very similar bar that they are able to use legally.
The HD bar is known for its safety and that is what I personally want it for. I plan on having a 4 point one in my road car and the same one with the bolt on attachments to enable it to be a 6 point Cams approved one in my track car.
 
Here is a rundown on costs from the first manufacturer we approached for the 6 point cage, this should drop significantly for the Roll Bar and with a few people rather than as a one off.

Full Cage (6 point) Bolt-in – Main hoop, diagonal brace, backstays, lateral bars & windscreen top cross bar
o $1,400 (for a new design/build)

· Optional: Shoulder strap harness bar including welded in threaded sleeves for harness ‘eye’ bolts.

o Fitting costs dependant on access around interior etc.
· Notes:
o Our bolt-in roll cage kits are painted in a Satin Black (low glare) finish.
o Roll Cage tubing is CAMS compliant 350 MPA CDW Mild Steel. MIG Welded.
o CAMS Roll Cage documentation is provided with kit.
o 2012 will see the biggest change in Roll Cage regulations for CAMS compliant vehicles in the last 10 years. Depending on what level you intend to compete in will determine if additional bar work over the standard configuration will be required. Please talk to us about your intentions for the vehicle and we can advise on the necessary requirements.

If you’re intending to fit the kit yourself, please note that all our bolt-in roll cages are pre-drilled (roll cage connector to corresponding tube) unlike most kits on the market. We also check for accuracy and fitment on our in-house roll cage jig (see attached photo). If you’re comparing our roll cages to that of a rival product, please make sure your comparing like for like. Some bolt-in kits are not CAMS compliant while other kits don’t simply ‘bolt-in’ as suggested and require days of modification to install."

What we can do is get them to draw up a six point but then have the option to purchase 4 point to start with, and then upgrade to 6 point later. Note, bolt in is cheaper than weld in.
