compressor surge

hi guys
Lately I've been having a couple of issues with my turbo. I assume it is compressor surge as it sounds exactly like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0HpIXuHz_g (not my car). I thought it might be the boost pressure being at 17psi in second gear but it doesn't do it all the time and it has only just started doing this. I have a bit of boost creep in higher gears so I don't usually give it open throttle in those gears, so I don't know if it does it above second gear. So what could be causing this and how do I fix.
thanks

you really havent explained what your issue is...

start by listing your engine setup and what has changed around the time of this happening, and eplain exactly what your issue is.

compressor surge is what you will find with a missmatched engine/cam to turbo setup (more common on a bitsa turbo) rather than a stock standard turbo type (factory got it right)

Yeah sorry I just re-read it and I'm not to clear. So I've had the same setup for about a year now and it consists of; gt28rs, w2a intercooler, 500cc injectors, bored out fuel rail, walbro fuel pump, PFC and 3inch exhaust the only thing I have done recently is changed the vacuum hoses from the wastegate to the boost controller as I was/am getting boost creep and suspected a leak in one of those hoses. So when I open the throttle up I get the same noise as above with reduced power. But this doesn't happen all the time and sometimes it goes away the higher the revs. I assumed it was compressor surge and assumed it wasn't good so was just wondering if any else has had a similar problem and how I could go about fixing it.

try putting it back the way you had it (assuming you were not getting what you think is surge back then?) and see if it goes away.

do you have an accurate boost gauge? what happens when you get this loss of power?

iirc with comp surge you should see the boost reading going up and down like a yoyo

I have an ems powered boost gauge so it can be a little hard to read when it's changing but I'll have a look tomorrow to see what it does.
