Queen's Birthday Holiday Run - Saturday 9 June 2012

The MR2 Owner's Club of Australia, Queensland, has decided that we can't be outdone by the Brits all floating down the Thames River for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and Birthday, so in keeping with the water theme we are going to do a Run via Lake Maroon on Saturday the 9th of June 2012. Because we are also attending the All Japanese Day the following weekend (see the separate post and put your name down) we have made this Run a shorter one, but just as interesting as previous activities with some incredible photo opportunities.

The Run details are:
1. Assemble at MacDonald's Oxley (near Harvey Norman and SuperCheap Auto) at 9.00am for a 9.30am departure. Meeting place will be the car park on the Harvey Norman side (MacDonald's and SuperCheap are on the left).
2. Travel via various good roads to morning tea at Lake Maroon (about an hour's run). Bring your own drinks (there's no cafe at Lake Maroon) but birthday cake for Betty Windsor's Birthday will be provided FOC.
3. Run from Lake Maroon via back roads to HJ's at Beaudesert for lunch.
4. From Beaudesert it's back eastward on back roads towards Tamborine then north-east back to Brisbane.
5. Total distance is about 240kms and there are some great twisty bits.
6. All member's attending will get a special commemorative gift to help remember the birthday.

As per normal full run details will be sent as a PDF to your PM address after you put your name down.

Roll Call:

With a build up like that Tralfaz, I can't see how one could refuse such an invitation. As it not a "school night" I will say a YES for the festivities. (nice and close to home for the start point too).

If this was on the Sunday I would be able to say that I am 100% able to go, but as my dad plays golf on Saturdays, this might take some serious sweet talking :P

Sorry Walter, I misread this one, (thought it was a Sunday) and as you know, we will be still working. So I have to decline. Mrs Windsor will have to indulge in festivities without us....

Unfortunately I will not be able to make this run, currently flat out with uni assessment, only 9 days left until holidays. I will definitely be at the All Japanese Day.

    Walter,
Looks like this weekend doesn't work for many of our fellow MR2 drivers.
Perhaps if no last minute interest we could save this brilliant run for some time soon?
    All MR2 Lovers
We've got the All Japanese Day on Sunday 17th June 2012. Always a really great event especially if you're interested in the long history of Japanese cars in Australia and globally. If you can (your car doesn't have to be concours standard) get along and represent our unique Japanese sports cars! Bring your camera.
Full details of this event and Club assembly times (for Club set up) on separate post.
See all who've said they'll be there and hope to meet some new owners and enthusiasts?
    cheers
    Steve

Can't make this run. Sounds fun though maybe we could do it later in the year. See you all next sunday.

What we're dealing with here is a complete lack of respect for the law.-"Sheriff Buford T. Justice."
Do you know the 1st rule of Italian driving?

As announced this Run has now been postponed and will replace the Mt Mee Run planned for Sunday the 22nd of July.
I'd like to thank everyone who indicated that they couldn't make it because we're not always aware of personal pressures when planning the dates, and it was only when I was talking to someone we know that it was realised that a lot of members also have exams and similar things going on at this time. Been there, done that, understand fully about the stress (and glad I no longer have to do it).
Having done a detailed recon of the proposed Run it was too good to pass up so we'll keep Mt Mee for later in the year when the weather at that altitude gets a bit better.
We'll have Run Sheets for the July Run at the All Japanese gathering next weekend (really looking forward to this).
I just wanted to thank Groper personally as well for putting the case forward for not having the Run. We want the Club to operate transparently and saying what you feel is a big part of that.
Keep an eye out this week for details of the assembly point for the All Japanese Day and get your winter woolies out because its going to be an early start. See you all there.
