    Check out:
    http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=51526&high=gtr+wheels
That is the combo many people go for to get stagger, but you may also need to get metal hub rings made to properly centre the wheel on the hub.

I used them on the rear for a while. I have coilovers. No mods required. Looked great.

R32 GTR rims are 16x8 +30 IIRC. Most people stagger the fronts buy using R32 GTS-T rims (16x7 +30?).

You can use GTR's up front as well, but they'll poke out more than the rears making it look as if it has bad fitment. Would probably need to roll the guards too.

I have lowered springs in the rear (most likely pedders) and my rear tyre aspect ratio/profile is 50 which scrub a little during hard cornering I think. For correct speedo it's supposed to be 45 if using 225/45/16 for rears I think. I got my rear guards rolled cos of the scrubbing but you should ask around if 45 profile needs to be rolled.

thanks guys im getting coil over soon hopefully just saving up the coin i can roll guards thats not a problem if needed to fit them
So i should run gtr's in the rear and gt'st in the front with wheel spacers, if so what size?
will i have to remove the plastic inner guards aswell ?

I think the fitment is fine from the GTR/GTS-T combo... You'll only need to run spacers if you want a bit of poke (see pic). Dont think you'll need to remove the guard liner.

Some say spacers are needed for taking those hard corners so I'd do that anyways for cheap investment lol. Mine came with them so I got lucky hehe. Just remember to clean any rust and put some anti-seize on the spacers/hub centric rings otherwise it might rust up and seize like mine did which will make it a PITA trying to take the wheel off.

    I thought GTS-T wheels were 6.5".

It's a combo that I've always loved. When I was doing a little research on buying an MR2 I read the wiki page where I found this http://en.wikipedia.org/w...Toyota_MR2_W20_002.JPG

    That's GTR wheels all around

Myself I used GTR wheels all round with 15mm spacers on the rear
When I have time will post a picture of how it looks from side,
Downside with 16" wheels is the availability of decent tyre widths such as 245 on low profile

At one stage I was looking at this combo myself.

    16 x 6.5 +40 offset.  Thats the stock rims for a 97 GTST.

And GTR 16x8's have +30 offset.

one thing to keep in mind, the GTS-T and GTR wheels are two different color

the GTS-T is plain "Silver, and the GTR is "Gunmetal Grey"......

GTS-T + GTR combo is 100% legal, looks great and doesn't require any guard rolling. I've never been unhappy with the choice. As DB8 points out, these rims are slightly different colours, but a powdercoat can take care of that and make the rims look new at the same time.
Tyre choice is limited in 16", but there are still some options available.
