I never imagined that the 'N' word company would be run by a man named Carlos!

Toyota has Scion for the budget market already
Hmm yes Nissan would be struggling without Renault during that difficult period. But I do have to praise Nissan for their continued heritage in racing and sports cars. I hear Honda is having a tuff period too

As an S14 owner, I'm only too eager to jump ship. GT-R aside, I am not a Nissan fan. Rubbish build quality. Met my dream A-Dub here in the hills, and the owner's a lovely chap. When I can sell, I'll be proudly driving an eighties Mister 2 instead. :)

It would be a bold move if it nissan goes ahead with that idea.iAll up I've owned one Datsun and four nissan's in my driving lifetime.
*180b sss (warmed over 2L engine and upgraded suspension and brakes )
*2x r31 Skylines ( one of them was a silhouette gts ) "brilliant car but was stolen and stripped"
*dual cab v6 navara ti modified into a sport truck ( looked good but boring as bat s**t )
*nx coupe ( resprayed, wheels & suspension looked good but was a compromise as my heart was set on a n14 sss the whole time )
*n13 pulsar q ( troublsome electrical issues from the day I owned it )
Al were pretty ordinary drives bar the 180b and silhouette gts. I'm all for Toyota's now and would rate the build quality as being close to that of anything with a bmw badge. My daily drive is a ke laser 4wd turbo and all though it's fun and rare. It has quite a few electrical gremlins and all the inherent driveline issues sometimes get me down.

You'd rate the build quality of Nissans or Toyotas as close to anything with a BMW badge? (Both are more reliable, mind you.)

And yep, I'd agree with you wholeheartedly, Domma_aw11.

Toyota's of course! Currently I've had three Toyotas, A 1990 Corolla sx, 1991 SW20 Mr2 and now 1987 AW11 Mr2. All were and are fantastic cars. I'm not saying Nissan's are crap though. I wouldn't have give the name such a good run otherwise. I totally respect the motorsport heritage of both marques as well

My first new car was a 1963 Datsun Bluebird 3 speed column manual which was cheap but turned out to be absolute crap. Of course at that time Toyota were just making their mark in Australia and their first cars were crap also, much the same as the original Hyundai, Kia's etc. sold here. They all have obviously lifted their game and the Nissan Pulsar auto I bought in 1999 as a family car was probably the best and most reliable car I have ever owned.
Possibly the new Chinese cars that have just arrived here will go down this path and gradually improve over the years also.
