1988 AW11 Hardtop [QLD]
Hi guys,
The time has come for me to sadly part with my little MR2. I've blasphemed and purchased a 2006 mazda 6 MPS.
Model: AW11 aus delivered
Year: 1988
Colour: Factory black with factory black interior
Kms: 312XXX
Rego: 19/02/12 QLD
Location: Gold coast
History: 3rd owner. Car was logbooked until 190K until the second owner got their stupid hands on the car. I bought the car from the 2nd owner with 221XXX on the clock. As much as I dislike admitting this I don't believe the car was serviced while the 2nd owner had the car. Car has received full service from me in the time I've owned it, with oil and oil filter changes every 5,000.
The car had an oil leak that was hard to diagnose (toyota took me for $1100 and 3 weeks, and told me "yeah, its fixed"). Stupidly listenting to toyota I stopped checking my oil every day and the engine spun a big end bearing at approx 245,XXX. new engine was obtained from a 1986 corolla (same engine, different manifold, this is NOT the 4AFE, it is definately the 4AGE). Car has not missed a beat since fitting the new engine. new engine had new head gasket and some minor cleaning before fitting.
Modifications: air filter with KN pod, smaller steering wheel
Overall condition: Fair. Paint is quite good in some places, engine lid paint is quite damaged (engine gets hot, apparently.) and some oxidisation on the drivers side door. Interior is in good nick, except for 2 inch crack in dash, passenger side air vent has popped out from socket, ash tray lid has broken (still have the lid) and leather boot around shifter has popped the clips.
Other Info: currently has bridgestone Adrenaline RE001 ($180 each) fitted, about a year old, probably 70-75% tread left.
Price: $4,000 for non-MR2 club members. For MR2 club members, I'd rather skip all the negotiating/haggling, will take $3,000 rego'd, $2500 unregistered
Contact: PM for more info, am more than happy to give out my mobile in PM but prefer not to post it up here.
Please note, these are NOT current photo's, these are photo's from when I first bought the car. I don't own a digital camera and thus don't have any current photo's. For anyone interested I can try to borrow a cam from a mate and get some current pics up. There isn't too much difference, but the paint looks significantly better here than it does now, owing to the fact that my brother had freshly detailed and waxed the car here.
