Monthly Coffee Meeting
As it is Father's Day this first Sunday of September 2009, we won't be having our regular (hopefully) get-together.
Stay tuned for activities though.
With any luck Scott, John and the other official MR2 Club members will become involved again and we can make it all more permanent this time.

Hey smeetsie, I really hope we get a few people coming along to these meets again.
Scott is definitely in, I spoke to him the other day and he is hoping to get his car on the road in time for Collingrove.
Are we all still meeting up and going for a run up to the hillclimb??? Been looking forward to that for ages now.

I hope to be at the next meeting as long as I am not on call.
Looking forward to meeting other enthusiasts.
There is a classic run called "Climb to the Eagle" on Friday Nov 6th and is coordinated by the Sporting Club of SA.
I am going on that run.
Are any other MR2 owners going. If you have not booked you only have until 4 Sept.

Unfortunately the next Hillclimb listed is on 27.9.09 which is the same day as the Bay to Birdwood Rally (which I have entered in my Milano MG).
On the 26.9.09 there is a come and try day at Collingrove Hillclimb which may be of interest to some MR2 folk. There is also a come and try day at Mallala this Sunday (Father's Day !!!#^*#=+) organised by the Marque Sports Association for any interested in learning to "Super Sprint". See the Marque Sports website for details or contact me.
The SA Hillclimb Championship is October 16 and 17. If all goes to plan I will be debuting my AW11 S/C at that event.

The suggestion at the last coffee meet was to meet up in the northern part of Adelaide and travel to Collingrove for the come-try-day. I am in support of this, and have been working towards this as it was the agreed idea at that meeting. I see 3 levels to participate:-
1. Turn up to meeting point to at least say hello and meet other enthusiasts
2. Drive (or ride with another member) to Collingrove and learn about hillclimb events and see some action
3. Participate in the come-try-day at the track
Hope to see this happen

Ill try my best to be there, been hanging out for this. Should be a good day with some nice weather by then too. Scott and I went up about 6 weeks ago and it was bloody freezing and wet, but still great.
So who is thinking of competing in this event?
What do we need to do to be able to compete? Provisional CAMS license, be a member of a club etc????

According to the website all you need is a car (duh) a helmet and fire extinguisher. I have requested some further info and will get back to you.

But basically there is a 75 car limit and you must have NEVER competed there before.
$45 entry fee entries close 22/9/09
$25 CAMS Level 1 licence (available on day)
Gates open @ 8:30am, Start 9:45am
Oh and each entry will get 5-7 runs depending on numbers and weather

Scott, you have made my day. Hopefully I will be in this time. Im going to call them and find out what stuff they look for in scrutineering, just to be sure I will have no problems or waste my money

Be mindful that that is a Saturday....26th September. I will see you up there as I go from Hawthorndene back way to Birdwood, Mt Pleasant etc.
May take the Red racer and let my son have a drive.......I don't qualify as a beginner.

It will have to be early anyway as scrutineering starts at 8:45 so we would be at TTP much earlier than even the keenest shoppers ;)

So what time are you meeting ? Who's going ?
I have the Red AW11 S/C Hardtop Racer back and am considering getting a permit to run it up to Collingrove as a "run-in" for the new motor.
I will still go the back way - Crafers, Birdwood, Mt Pleasant.
Any Southern suburbs people want to meet up and go together?

Peter I am going as a spectator only, so can get there a bit later than you and aw11gte. However I would be happy to go early and see the scrutineering process etc..
How bout we meet at birdwood? Name your time as you need to be there for scrutineering.
