Trip to townsville help.
Hey all. i'm going on a trip from maryborough to townsville in a couple weeks and i'm taking the good old mr2. But there's a few things that i'd like to fix before i go. 1. The roof leaks. And i can't afford new seals atm. They wouldn't get here soon enough anyway. Is there anyway i can revamp the old ones i no it's been discussed a lot. But i was thinking he there is like an expandable foam You could pump into the seals to push them back into original shape.
2. Will the stock wiring handle 100 watt high beam.
3. I'd like to change the gear box oil to. I've been told it has either royal purple or red line. I can't remember What the previous owner told me. What would be the best for it. I don't want it to start crunching on the trip. Or am i better off leaving it.

fix the seals with selleys windscreensealant and i used sony o-ring grease to grease the top of the seal wwhere it meets the window slightly so that stopps any residual leaks too.
yes the stock wiring will do fine with 100w highbeams.
i use royal purple gearbox oil. it works very well.

Be careful with the 100w beams, mine was imported with 100w in it and the relay was half melted.

i might chuck a spare relay in the car and keep the standard bulbs with me. i'll get round to rewiring it to handle them fine after i get back. more info on the leak prevention would be good. also i was just thinking the gearbox, since i haven't even looked at it since i bought the car 1.5 years and 20000 kms ago lol

For the seals i'd go to clark rubber and buy thr thinnest self adhesive rubber strips, stick them across the front and rears both sides.
Easy, and it doesn't work good enough peel it off and try again.

i just read something on another website about t tops in other cars leaking and they said on those cars the pins are adjustable and that if you pull the plastic bits off on the inside and adjust them so there tighter and then put them back together they hold tighter on the car and seal better.
does anyone know if there adjustable on the mr2's, i really need to fix these leaks cause its going to be outside for a week in townsville. and its probably gonna be raining the whole time. even if its a temp fix as i wont be removing the targa's while i'm up there.

i cut up a strip of chux wipes, wrapped it with glad/cling wrap and placed it where it leaked. Did this about 2 years ago and it still hasn't leaked tll this day :D even the high pressure rinses at the car wash cant get through.
