SW20 V6 3.0ltr conversion
This is the road registered v6 project I'm now working on.
I bought the car which had a few nice parts after the previous owner had used it for daily driving plus some hillclimb. Its in good condition with paint having a few marks but overall its pretty good.
The first hurdle was finding all interior as it was not there when purchased. It is now 90% there. Still have a few few little bits and pieces which I will source in the coming months.
Next was the fuel pump replacement being a Mitsubishi evo pump. All easy enough.
The coolant lines which seems to be quite the grey area but managed a solution. For people looking at doing this conversion the left hand side coolant line can be replaced with a Camry V6 pipe which fits straight up after trimming the end at the engine. The right hand side is standard lower section then add the sw20 3sgte left hand side engine to coolant pipe. These can be trimmed to suit with a joined added to the joint of the two pipes.
The drivetrain was installed but no plumbing or wiring was completed so I have a bit to do. Gearbox is a fully rebuilt unit with brand new internals and aCusco 1.5 way LSD.
ECU will be standard for the time being. The headers and exhaust will all be design and built at home. It will be a challenge yet a lot better than being ripped off again by dodgy fabricators.
The engine in the car will be replaced with a spare engine which has zero km on it. It will be a great day when it is back on the road feeling like a new car again.
All the bushes, suspension, brakes, ball joints, tie rod ends, bearings will be replaced to complete the new feel when it is re-registered.
The plan will be to do all the works then sell the car so if you are interested just keep an eye on the build and PM if interested.
