Power steering pump noise

My power steering pump is noisy - varies in volume but sounds like a loud thermo fan at times (actually thought it was a faulty thero fan initially)!

Suggestions appreciated on what to try before going down the path of a pump rebuild if that will fix the noise?

If rebuild required, anyone recommended for the job in Melbourne?

Check fluid level or replace fluid.

Check brushes, four around pump, remove gently one at a time from the 17mm black bolt/stopper, gentle wipe of the end of the metal brush with 180 grit sand paper, electro wash and re install.

Check before doing the above that your problem is not fuel pump, far more common. When did you let replace the pump. Check pump.

    Appreciate the detailed reply.

I only bought the car in February and the list of work done doesn't mention a new fuel pump. So I will check that after I have looked at the Power Steering pump.
