ARP head studs

I have a little more time now.  It's good practise to check the threads in the block to see that they are all clean.
No don't put a thread tap through them. I count the turns the stud goes down so they are all in an equal depth
when seated just firmly by hand. If I remember correctly I think it was sixteen turns.
Use the correct assembly grease on the threads and the clamping surfaces.
Do you know the correct procedure with the torque wrench ?

I measure the heights of the studs, to double check they are all installed correctly. Usually arp specifys a final torque, but request you reach that torque on the third pass (ie. 20nm, 40nm, and then 65nm)

Loosening and retightening is not done with arp fasteners. That is a common pre torque method on torque to yield bolts and with some head gaskets.
