SEX. (Well from what I remember).
Morgan Park Raceway open practise from 9 till 1.oo pm.
Danny and I were there champing at the bit by seven with all the junk unloaded, wheel nuts torqued, tyre pressures preliminarily set etc. It was about as beautiful a morning as possible. Not a cloud to be seen with a tiny breath of breeze. probably about 22 degrees to warm up to about 30 by 1.00 pm.
We spent a far bit of time thinking about all the rest of you blokes heading to work. It distressed us terribly.
There seemed to be one of bloody near every car imaginable. Ranged from Hyundi, Thing like a Teraplane,
Lola from 1979, several other open wheelers, bunch of tin tops of various makes and models. SLK 350 Benz. (me like). Then the good stuff. Proton Satria GLI with really really good brakes and suspenders pedalled by a ratbag.
First session to find out where the road went out over the hill. Ahaaa it went way way round there. Me thinks I need to watch out and concentrate or will run way wide on that ****. Then just starting to get tyres up to temp on third lap and having a nice little go and here's a rotten idget decided to reverse through the esses complete with tyre smoke and terror for he an me.
Danny mean time has disappeared into the distance and I decided to let the MCLAREN past as I would soon reel him in again on the straight. Oh did I mention the MCLAREN earlier. $700 odd grands worth. I spent the day worried about me mudguards getting bashed in. It was brand bloody new. First of it's type in the country and one of only three. Three foot wide and high tyres both ends. Millyun horses and not bad celleration either for a none Jap thing. I wouldn't want one of course.
Danny was very good to the old bloke and continued to adjust my hot tyre pressures each session which transformed the handling from a slithery tail wagging handful to something I could on occasions get a hold of.
Much appreciated and once again a big THANK YOU Danny.
And so the track time continued chasing each other round with Danny easing off so I could catch up again and all the time learning. Absolutely fabulous stuff.
It was a bit of fun being in one of only two mid engine tin tops on the day too.
Now that it runs properly all I need is someone who can drive the bloody thing.
