Starter motor earth

I know I know, I should have paid more attention when pulling it apart, but anyway anyone know where the earth goes back on the starter?

I thought it went on the bolt with the power but that caused the battery to send sparks into space.

AFAIK only 3 wires connect to the starter. (It should earth through the engine)
One pushes on to a connector, while the heavy +12V starter cable along with a thinner starter wire both go to the threaded post on the starter.
Might be a good idea to disconnect the battery while connecting electrics.

Thanks, I'll have a look in the morning.

And yeah battery is disconnected, tried to connect it to crank the engine, that's when I enjoyed the spark show

Big earth cable goes between the body and the gearbox. Find a good bolt on the gearbox for it. Easy!
