Oil sludge in intake pipe to turbo

I'm currently in the process of doing a full coolant flush and re-fill on my gen3. I took off the intake piping to get to the heater core and noticed that there was a build up of oil sludge in the intake side. Looks like it came from my catch can? Turbo looks Ok don't think its leaking there but do the blades look worn? Any idea how it got there and how do I go about cleaning it? Is degreaser safe on the rubber intake pipes?

    Ct18 or ct20 truck wash is what I would use to clean it (whilst disconnected to the turbo), using a cheap toilet brush. Use a rubber restorer after.
    Personal opinions; Probably a good time to take off your turbo hot pipe (turbo to intercooler) and see if it has any blow through oil and clean with petrol whilst out.
    Use toyota red coolant only.

    What air cleaner have you been using?  Second photo appears to show a build up of dust on the oil.
    The compressor wheel is heavily eroded and the housing is probably ruined too.
    If this is what I'm seeing it is indicative of dusting and has most likely worn the rings and cylinders too.
    About one percent of dust particles will have been arrested on the oily residue inside the pipes.
    The rest will have passed through the engine.

    Hmm, not good news to hear.
     
    Air filter was just a standard panel filter.
     
    Can't get Toyota red in time, only have Nulon long life Green and I need to get the car running for work.
     
    Have to source my stuff from super cheap, ct18 was is available but can't find any rubber restorer on the online catalogue. I guess I'll just remove whatever I can with elbow grease and water.

    Update : Was about to give up flushing the heater core because I couldn't get the hoses off but I eventually got help and got them off. Lucky I did because it was filthy when I flushed it.
     
    Dumped the intake pipes into hot water to loosen the sludge and scrapped it off with a popsicle stick. Much better now.

     
    Filled up the heater core with new coolant while I had hoses connect to the heater pipe to save time filling up later.
     
    Installed new air filter (old was was dirty too), connected everything back up - refilled and bled.
     
    Now my engine doesn't blow any smoke or anything, runs and idles fine. Is there a way I can check if there's build up in the engine?

    Remove and clean the hot pipe. Do a hot compression test if you want to judge the condition of the rings.
    By rights the complete inlet system should be removed for cleaning but it ain't easy.

    Hmmm, if the intake was caked in that crap chances are the hotpipe and interooler and it's piping too will be soiled.
     
    Guess I'll find out on the weekend. Compression test will have to wait.
