Sw20 alternator adjustment bolt assembly alternative

Hey Guys,

For any of you sw20 owners out there who have either misplaced or broken the belt tension adjustment bolts on there 3sgte and like me found that you cant get them from toyota or pretty much any wrecker i have found an alternative solution that requires minimal effort to implement.

The Honda (i know its a dirty word and I apologise) prelude 1989-1995 use a system on their alternator that can be adapted into our systems.

now i know its not visually the same as our ones but when you consider that really its only there to pick up the slack and then the side bolt locks it in place then.

The only modification needed is to increase the size of the hole for the mounting bracket to accomodate the m8 bolt required on the end of the mr2 alternator bracket. I used a 9mm drill bit and a few seconds later fits like a glove.

Of course you could choose to drill the extra hole so that you can use both provided bolt holes in the bracket but i chose to avoid this as it makes tightening everything a little tight, but hey the choice is yours and for the grand total of $10 for all the bolts required combined from your local wrecker it saves doinf stupid things like using a crowbar or rooe and lever to gain tension before tightening the belt.. and most of all stops that bloody embarrassing belt squeal when your leaving the shops :)
