Woodsport Mk2 Kuki blade group buy
Hi chaps, some of you may know me already and what we do with Mr2s, if you don't please check out
www.woodsport.org and that will get you up to speed. Anyway we have designed a new roof spoiler for the Mk2 called the Kuki blade. The blade attaches to the C pillar trim just above the rear window and includes a high level brake light.
A lot of time has gone into producing something that looks like an OEM part, as if Toyota themselves made this as an optional extra, that kind of thing is very important to me.
Take a look at the prototype pics below and leave a comment if you like, i was directed here by a member of your club that also visits our Uk club forums and he reckoned some of you guys might be interested.
I am currently organizing a worldwide group buy on this blade, so far there are qround 15 internet orders(it's only been up and running 2 days) and 12 email orders, so i should be able to produce this with a good discount for everyone, much cheaper than the full retail price will be outside of the group buy, basically the more numbers i get the cheaper for everyone, i will also be giving one blade away for free to someone on the group buy in a random lottery draw, that will include shipping.
Anyway here's the pics, i am about 2-3 weeks from having the molds made, and probably 2-3 weeks after that to get everyones blades made, so if you want one just add your name to the list. Prices at the moment are not set in stone as it really does depend how many takers we get, but currently it looks like being £175 GBP plus shipping (shipping from UK to Oz is looking like a £70GBP deal at the moment, which is hurting a lot) so maybe i can ship the whole lot of them to a single address at much less cost? We shall see, presume £70 GBP until further notice.
Some teaser pics, bear in mind this is not quite the finished product, there is still final prep to do before molding stage.

So i was asked for some distance shots from different angles so here is the blade fitted to Anths Mk2, we love the way it totally transforms the rear window shape and continues the roof line further back, from a distance it looks seamless and almost as if it has had a roof chop compared to stock.

Really looking forward to seeing this in another colour other than black!
We both stood and looked at it and thought it makes the rear look really stealthy, we know we must have the styling on this one pretty good because the second you take the blade off the car doesn't look as good, in our opinion of course!
This is the high level brake light i plan on using, it's an expensive item but quality is second to none.
A quick FAQ i knocked up based on the questions so far....
1. Does the blade obscure rear view mirror? It blocks the top two inches of window, i'm 6ft and the rear view of the road is the same, the only thing you lose is part of the sky, but you know i like it, it acts like a rear sunshade, but i never planned it that way.
2. Is engine lid opening a problem? No, the lid opens 2" less, i will actually measure the opening angle today, but there is plenty of room, the lid will come with a shortened stay, gas rams still work fine, it just means the lid touches the blade, i have a ram fitted on mine.
3. How is it attached? Currently with 3M tape and it's rock solid, there is a very large contact area both on the top and underside faces of the C pillar trim, the blade has been formed to fit mm perfect, the user can either 3M tape or Tigerseal/bond it on. Any other means of attachment will mean drilling the C pillar trim and i'm not comfortable with that as a solution.
4. How does the brake light connect? It will come with a connector so that it will be easy to remove for any reason without having to take the blade off, two wires will need to be joined either into your existing high level brake light wiring or routed to your brake light circuit, so on cars with no high level brake light a small hole will need to be drilled to feed the wires through, i will supply a rubber grommet for that with the kit.
5. Will it come painted? No, all blades will come in white Gelcoat finish, which will need to be lightly sanded, primed and painted in your cars colour. I cannot send painted blades safely through our couriers without risk of scratching or damage to the paint.
6. How much is it? Not set in stone yet until final order numbers are known, but it will be somewhere around £200 ($280 USD) for the high level brake light version and around £150 ($220 USD) without it.
7. How much is shipping? To the UK it will be around £20 for a next day service once the blade is made, US orders are around $80 but based on a group buy deal price to be arranged, i'm aiming for under $350 USD shipped, or much lower if there are enough numbers.
8. How long does production take? As it stands i only have the master copy, i need to speak to my molder this week about mold timescales, which does take a little while based on my previous products, i could make the mold myself but my engine conversion workload doesn't allow that. Once the mold is made, production time will be 7-10 days, i initially plan on a large group order for both US and UK buyers which will take 2-3 weeks to fulfill, after that individual orders will be the normal 7-10 day lead time.
9. What if i fit it and don't like it? Simply return it for a full refund within 7 days in an unpainted, undamaged condition.
10. Reserved for questions i haven't been asked yet.
And finally this is the group buy provisional list of takers so far, this is not a commitment just yet, just an idea of numbers. You can copy and paste this below and add your name.
