Probably a leak in the clutch hydraulic system somewhere. Look at your clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder and clutch lines for leaks.

If it got VERY soft all of a sudden, you could have broken a finger on the pressure plate.. I've had it happen in the past.

Brake is Drivers side (Left), & Right side is Clutch (smaller reservoir).
Any decent quality DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid will do.  Brand doesn't matter much IMO.

    Hi Richie,
I have been grappling with gear changing & clutch issues every now & then with my 1996 NA ever since I have owned it, (over 3 years).
One issue that I reckon caused soft pedal, & poor operating clutch was a deep scratch in Clutch Master Cylinder.
    I have replaced mine.
Another that I am coming to grips with right now, is loss the the Clutch Slave Cylinder heat insulator.
In the hot weather, 3 or 4 successive days over 40 C back in Feb, my clutch was poor. Now that it is cooler it is o.k.
Other forums have said that once fluid has overheated it isn't the same any more. Will have to bleed again.
Amayama have just advised that they can't get me a new heat shield/insulator PN 31461-17010.
Will have to see if I can get a used one or work out how to fix what I have left.
**** job to work on Slave Cylinder, but.
To revert to your difficulty, you also need to consider that the Master & Slave Cylinders may be faulty.

Just make sure there is no brake fluid under each wheel, if not, then more than likely leaking from the slave cylinder. (some drips / fluid should be present underneath below the firewall area).
