Recent experience taught me.... get it to an auto electrician to see if it can be rebuilt...
You can buy one from ebay or the internet suppliers, it arrives without sufficient packing and is damage in transit. They wont refund you without sending it back. It costs almost as much to send back as to buy another one (or double the cost and they will send another in the same manner - possibly damaged). The listing says denso or brand name but its a cheap Chinese copy. Waste of money number 1.
You can buy one from Toyota for $1000 - $2000 (turbo p/s model). Waste of money - not usually an option.
You can buy one from your local auto store as some are available, aftermarket brand. Unless its the turbo with p/s - they dont sell them in australia 100amp round plug - the part listed is not a 100amp alternator.
You can buy one from the club members thinking better condition than yours. You get it checked at an auto electricians and the regulator or other parts are not 100%. So you get the alternator rebuilt by the auto electrican.... That arrives back at point number one - get an auto electrician to look at it and rebuild it if its a genuine part before investing money elsewhere. Well thats just my experience in an expensive fix...
List up if yours is turbo or non turbo, power steering or not, round plug or oval plug.
