What car, what snorkel. Generally if your referring to a fibreglass copy snorkel or any other body kit part, they will need fitting; that often involved sanding, possibly cutting, possibly fibreglass work to get it to line up.

It should be straight forward. Remove old panel. Drill two holes (if not predrilled) for the 10mm bolts from the panel. Some people use a bunnings weather strip (like what you use for weather strips on doors and windows) between the side of the snorkel and the car (where it can't be seen - on the underside of the snorkel), stops it rubbing on the paintwork. Proper solution, there should be a tab on the passenger side bottom of the snorkel, and you drill through it (if it lines up to the screw in the side panel - above the radiator cap area). With fibreglass, check things twice before drilling or cutting.
I don't know how to post photos, that would make it easier.
Depending on how bad a copy you got and how fussy you are, I have done major cutting and fibreglassing, I should have bought a good one not a cheap one.
PM me and can maybe email photos, or I will work out how to upload photos at some stage.
