Evora 400 is Fastest, Most Powerful Production Lotus Yet
If Toyota had continued to make the MR2 this is something like it may have become; Only with toyota build quality & maybe a more affordable price. This is going to be a great sports car.
The new Lotus Evora 400 is powered by a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine churning 400 hp and 302 lb-ft of torque, which is a big improvement over the previous model’s 345 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. According to the British automaker, the additional performance comes courtesy of a new supercharger as well as the addition of a new water-to-air intercooler and engine management system. With those figures, Lotus claims the Evora 400 has a top speed of 300 Km/ph [186 mph] and is able to do the 0-100 Km [0-60 MPH] sprint in just 4.1 seconds. More importantly, other enhancements allow the Evora 400 to lap the Lotus test track six seconds quicker than the outgoing model.
While the overall shape of the Lotus Evora 400 is reminiscent of the current model, the company says that over two-thirds of the Lotus Evora 400 is new, allowing it to be almost 22 Kg [49 lbs] lighter.
Braking performance has also been enhanced with more powerful, two-piece, cross-drilled and ventilated brake discs while forged lightweight aluminum wheels (19 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear) will be standard, paired to Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
As for the exterior, the Lotus Evora 400 has a much more aggressive design while the length of the sports car has been increased by 1.4 inches to a total of 173 inches. The new Lotus Evora 400 will enter production for European markets this summer with deliveries beginning in August. It will also be heading to the U.S. as a 2016 year model.
Australia should see the new Evora 400 sometime next year.
