How to fit anti squeal springs

Fitted new rotors and pads but cant see how to fit the anti squeal springs. I didn't completely remove the caliper, it remained attached to the brake line so there may be some access issues that wouldn't be the case on a bench.
 
Any ideas, the manual just says fit and remove anti squeal springs, doesn't give diagrams

    Worked it out but I only have one spring per wheel. Are they necessary? What if I don't fit them?
