BLACK SNAKE CREEK FESTIVAL - SATURDAY 11TH OF OCTOBER 2014

BLACK SNAKE CREEK FESTIVAL - SATURDAY 11TH OF OCTOBER 2014

With the great help that Mr and Mrs Scope continually give to the Club we decided last year to provide an MR2 presence at the annual Black Snake Creek Festival at Marburg which Mrs Scope organises for the local community.

Everyone who went "Black Snake Creeking" in 2013 had such a great time that we are repeating the effort again in 2014.

MR2's will therefore hopefully again be seen adding much needed motoring style, grace and excellence to Queen and Edmonds Street, Marburg, next Saturday, the 11th of October, 2014. Entry in the car display and parade activities is free.

The day for us consists of a short run out to Marburg to be there by 8.45am, the cars will then be displayed and judged at about 9.00am, and after the judging is finished the winning cars will go in the Black Snake Creek street parade. If the numbers of cars in overall attendance is not large then everyone may be able to participate in the parade, but if not all the cars (how many Holdens and Falcons can people bear to look at driving past ) then we all have spare seats to take members and families for the short parade ride.

After the parade is over all the cars will be on display for the public to look at, there is an opportunity to attend the various stalls and amusement rides, the food at the pub last year was extremely good, and the town atmosphere is very friendly. For those who are interested we intend taking a different way back from Marburg through some twisties, or you can find your own way home if you need to go direct. Activities will be over by 2.00pm.

When your name is included on the Roll Call below a Run Sheet and registration sheet will be sent out at the end of the week as per normal Club procedure.

This is an opportunity to experience small town hospitality and help a worthy cause, plus say to Mr and Mrs Scope that we really appreciate their efforts in what they do for us. See you there.

    Tralfaz,
Regrettably, I won't be able to attend the Black Snake festival as I have a prior, long standing commitment. I hope it's a successful day and plenty of funds are raised.
    cheers

So the list for PM's being sent out today with details, is: (wait for it)

    1. Tralfaz - AW11 S/C (again, out of the museum, no, the car, not the driver)
    2. Run Manager - SW20 - Black
    3. Danny - SW20 Shinny Red B-)
    4. JJJohan - ZZ30 Will also be bringing my dad out of the museum ;)
    5. Rob - sw20  if im up and running by then - yes I do have it in bits again lol
    6. Nate_p - SW20 with all new wheels
    7. Ben77 - mr2 support car - RAV4+2kids.
    8. Eric - SW20

    Footnotes:
    a. Lumix and Groper - no problems at all. All the more trophies for us. He he.
    b. Ben77 - at least the support car is a Toyota.
    c. Rob - it had better be fixed after the last Run. Have you ever considered it might be struggling with all the extra weight of the added carbon fibre??
    d. Nate-p - this isn't one of those jokes about how do you know you live in (insert a name here like Browns Plains) is it ??? Answer: You mow the lawn and find a car, and the wheels on the car are worth more than the car is.
    e. JJJohan - I am the only one in the Club permitted to have claims on the museum piece thing and have a card to prove it.

    Rob,
thanks for trying to get there.

I'd normally say "Why not bring the Porsche?" because we miss yours and Amy's company, but, to be true to my new calling as an apprentice trophy chaser, (I won't say who I am apprenticed to) there being only one award category for 1980's cars your Porsche not being there will certainly lessen the competition.

More seriously, I am actually having similar problems with my SW20 still being in bits. I set myself a goal of getting the windscreen washer system fixed (it hasn't worked properly since I bought the car) but the MR2 "kaizen" demon has struck again.

Because mine is a very early car the washer bottle and pump I purchased from my favourite MR2 dismantler, which was from a later variant of the SW20, has some slight fitting differences that have been just big enough to cause me to run out of time.

Interestingly the Toyota "kaizen" philosophy has improved the design of both the rubber fitting that isolates the clear funnel from the bottle (different shape to improve the water proofing from over-filling) and the electrical plug (totally different type of plug which is properly sealed from dust and water ingress). How many times would you see such attention to detail in modern cars of the same model run? I would guess probably not many.

This delay means I will only have the AW11 there in the morning.

I hope you will get this fixed before the Hill Climb the following Sunday.

    Walter
