Please Help - Recommendations needed!

I have a set of wheels coming in for my SW20. They are a set of 18" with 8" 35+ at the front and 9" 38+ at the rear.

The big question is will these sit okay on the SW20 with out sticking out too much?

And lastly any recommendations on what width tyre to fit onto the 8" and 9" wheels. i was thinking maybe 215's and 245s. I dont want it over sized and secondly i dont want it stretching either.

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards
Simon

Those offsets won't stick out too much, they should be quite good.
    Are your guards rolled?
IF you have coilovers, those front rims will probably have clearance issues from the coilovers. Stock struts would be fine though.
I also have 8' and 9' rims. I have 255 tyres on the rear which I think are perfect for the 9' rims. I have 215 tyres on the front, which are slightly narrower than ideal for an 8' rim but it's hard to find good tyres in 225 width which don't have an unsuitable profile (any more than 35 profile tyres on 18s and the outer diameter of the tyre can become too large for the wheel arches at full lock).

There is an extensive build thread for my car here: http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=18316

    Hey mate,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'm glad you said the offsets will be fine, I was getting worried for a second. Guards aren't rolled yet, will assess if it needs to be done once I get the wheels on the car. Coilovers will be ordered soon, I really hope they don't cause any issues? I always thought they would be better than a stock strut. I really hope it doesn't cause any issues.

As for the tyres I know what you mean. Your recommendations give me some kind of idea what to go for. I guess I will have to see what happens, just hope coilovers won't screw me over.

    Thanks

Hi Simon, I agree with RobK, I also run a simular tyre config, I have 7' and 9' 18' rims. I run 255 tyres on the rear which are perfect, & 215 up front, 35 profile all round.
Guards are rolled, yet I still run standard factory Rev 4 struts, no rubbing or scrubbing or interfence at all.

I had 17x8 +35 and with coilovers my wheels touched the coilover. had to run a slip on spacer but I would not recommend this!

Some coilovers may clear but its just not certain until you buy unfortunately :/

I think it should be caveat-ed that this advice is based on general experience.

Unfortunately each and every wheel is different, so a 17x8+35 work meister doesn't actually measure and fit exactly the same as a 17x8+35 TE37 for example, due to different sized lips, mounting surfaces etc.

    What wheels are they?

I'm running 18x8.5+24 up front with a 215/35 and 18x10 +34 rear with a 265/35 and fitment is fine, but it took a bit of work and tampering with camber pillow tops etc to get them fitted without fouling anything.
