Keep an eye out on Yahoo Auctions. I've counted 3 SE's go up there in the last year. 2x were white ones, one was mint and the other was in average but perfectly restorable condition (still had the leather seats and momo wheel). The last one was blue and didn't have good enough shots to judge the condition, auction rating was 3 and it appeared to be in good condition.
Doubt you are going to find anyone on an MR2 enthuiast forum willing to sell their SE. You'd have better luck with someone who doesn't know what they are.

Be very careful with yahoo auction cars. There's often more than meets the eye & many have been inspected/deemed unroadworthy.

Did you reach out to importers like Iron Chef & or Prestige? I have visibility over Jap auctions (most) & decent AW11 still do appear.

Neither of those are Super Editions, but yeah agreed with Yahoo.
Actually I believe 2 out of 3 I have spotted were car auctions, not Yahoo.

Also notice Ace of Spades isn't in Aus, so our pre '89 rules don't apply. They still have a 25 year rule in place, and now that 89's are eligible, US is going gangbusters trying to import stuff like R32 GT-R's and rare cars like the Super Edition AW11's.

Yes, US & Canada are killing that market right now. There's been quite a few mint Rev3/4 SW20's find their way onto US shores.

Do your research, the Super Edition was a limited run for 88 and 89, not confirmed but likely were around 200 produced for each year.
In 88 they were a special white/gold two tone colour scheme, momo wheel and shift knob and half leather seats, but were otherwise the same as a G-Limited Super Charger model.

In 89 they did another run with a modified blue (standard was 8E3, Super Edition was 8E4) colour, but this time they also added Recaro LX style seats and matching door cards. The 89's were more desireable too since the '89 model AW11 came with a heap of goodies like Aero mirrors, mirrored targa tops, LED brake light on the spoiler.

Not really SE floor mats, just factory optional MR2 ones.

Good luck, but you're probably better off looking at Japanese/Asian car sites for the SE, as that is where most will be found. Unfortunately, even those sites don't have that many of them anymore, as they have become a bit more collectable, and most of the reasonably priced ones have been snatched up already.

Here's a link to one that isn't badly priced, but is missing a couple of things (missing passenger seat, missing original polished tear drop wheels, missing the horn pad, and has a cracked dash). Otherwise not too bad of shape, and does have the original door panels, driver's seat, steering wheel, mirrored t-tops, aero retracting mirrors, and possibly even an original shift knob. Bad news is that at least part of it looks to have been repainted as the rear trunk decals are the wrong color (should be gold). But for the price you get most of what counts, and it could be restored decently.

But don't count on the 25 year rule letting you import anything that you want without some hassles. Smog issues are just one part of it. Asian vehicles also occasionally had different structural issues that might need to be addressed to meet US standards, plus side lights might have to be changed to meet US standards as well, not sure. Probably depends upon if you want to use it as a daily driver, or registered antique. Additionally, you better find an importer that you can really trust, as any of these cars could turn out to be less than what their pictures lead you to believe. Take the following fake 'Black Limited' that I just came across:
    http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&ei=GQ3pS_WKBZL-tAOsp8mNCA&hl=en&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dcarsensor.net%26num%3D50%26hl%3Den&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ja&u=http://www.carsensor.net/usedcar/detail/CU2638917418/index.html%3FTRCD%3D200002&usg=ALkJrhjetO0gDsgA3ni4dfBgglMKvGTpLA

I've never seen such a faked up Japanese sold MR2 before, but it just goes to show people are the same everywhere. There's no way this car is only a 55k kilometer model, and it certainly isn't an original 'Black Limited' though it does have one or two original parts from one. It really has become a buyer beware market everywhere you go these days, lol.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Care to explain to the unenlightened why that isn't a genuine Black Limited? km's yeah fair enough it might have been rolled back, but without thoroughly studying it, there's no reason I wouldn't think this isn't a Black Limited.
Things like those decals would be incredibly hard to obtain through official channels, so if they are reproductions, they are very well done.

Okay, after much research, of what little there is on this car, and after looking repeatedly at all the supposed Black Limited pics that I have managed to accumulate, that second linked MKI (the Black Limited) looks like it actually is an authentic BL. The problem I had originally was in comparing it to pics of an actual BL located in Japan that I had found some years back. The door molding stripe colors looked quite different, and I also thought that the wording 'Black Limited' was located in different areas of the moldings. Further close-up inspections of original BL brochure pics, and of a few pics from an Australian that looked to have owned one, seems to show that this recently linked one is an actual BL.

Here is a link to the Japanese webpage that contains pics of an original BL, which caused me some initial concerns. I thought that the side molding pin striping on it had gold instead of silver coloring, but now think that it was maybe just the angle and lighting that gave it that impression. I also initially thought the close-up of the side molding BL letting was on the rear portion of the door, not the front. That was definitely my mistake. I've now blown up the pics of the side view of the car and can vaguely make out the BL lettering in the correct area. Still weird how the molding silver pin striping looks so gold on the one pic, while the silver pin striping below the molding looks exactly as it should.
    ブラックリミテッド (本物)

Unfortunately, I only saved a few pics from whatever webpage the Aussie BL was located on, and not the webpage itself, but they do appear to show almost identical side moldings, and lower striping, with the MR2 lettering. And even though the pics on the original BL brochures don't show those items in detail they do appear to have the same characteristics. So it appears it is my bad for jumping to conclusions on this.

FYI: The Aussie who owned a BL went by the user name 'Spots' on MR2oc.com, and I seem to recall that name from some of the Aussie boards as well. I have saved the MR2oc.com pages from when he commented on the one he owned, but unfortunately none of the links he posted regarding pics of it, or of others, still function.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
