PRESIDENT'S AFTER-RUN REPORT 20 APRIL 2014
With the great autumn weather we have been experiencing in Queensland it was time to get the cars out again and do a Run through some of the spectacular roads in the hinterland behind the Sunshine Coast.
Noting on the weather reports that Hobart's maximum daily temperature is now three degrees below our minimum and getting worse we must sympathise with them having only a few months of the year in which there isn't snow on the roads and you can't go out without a 4WD MR2. Perhaps this is why so few Tassie MR2's attended the Nationals last October?

Although it was Easter and many people were either away or catching up on sleep a suitable number of Queensland MR2's did a 370km Run through some lovely countryside, including up and down hills where the twisty curves and 15% grades combined to test drivers and machines. Now that Joel is back from his final year at Uni (passed with flying colours so congratulations!) the standard of photography has greatly increased, so make sure you check out the Run post below for some very select MR2 shots.
Apologies were received from a number of members who has Easter commitments elsewhere, plus Dennis refused to dress up as the Easter Bilby. Just as importantly we welcomed some new people along for the first time, notably Rob and Amy with their modified black SW20, Fraser with his lean green machine, and Ben who met us at the start point with the blue meanie. It's great to see that there are still cars out there that haven't been seen before
Aron was out for his second Run with us in his white AW11 and Russell, Joel's dad, enjoyed himself again as a co-pilot and navigator. Pressure is mounting for Russel to get an MR2 to match Joel's, which will not be easy. Having Club stalwarts like Tim, Steve and Eric along made the day complete.
As President I have to say that Amy, Gaby and Kathy being on the Run also really brightened up the day. Now if only Rob and Eric can come up to the same standard of appearance as Amy and Gaby we would all be very happy. I don't know what this says for me and what I would have to do to lift my game as I am well past the moisturising and face cream stage.

From the pictures taken by Joel you would think that black now seems to be the new red in Queensland . I am also flattered that Rob and Amy have chosen to copy my SW20 by embellishing their car with loads of carbon fibre, although the carbon fibre cigarette lighter in Rob's car might be taking the competition a bit too far (just jealous because I didn't find one first).
All in all it was a top day out with great cars and even greater people.
Just a reminder that our next activity is on Sunday the 4th of May so watch out for the Run post in the next few days. Hope all had a very happy and peaceful Easter.
Walter
