MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT RE RUN DATE CHANGES - PLEASE READ
RUN DATE CHANGES AND OTHER BUSINESS Folks,
unfortunately I had a serious set-back with my health two weeks ago which required a late night ambulance ride to the Wesley (fun when you are full of morphine

) and then emergency surgery, from which I am still recovering.
We did have a Run and our AGM scheduled for this coming Sunday, the 16th of March, but after discussion with the Secretary and Run Manager (the Treasurer is absent on Targa Tassie duties) we have decided to postpone the Run for a week to permit a bit more personal recovery time (plus Eric and some others getting their cars ready

).
Therefore the March Run will be on Sunday the 25th and not this coming Sunday the 16th. I hope that this doesn't inconvenience too many members and I thank you all for your continuing patience.
A Roll Call for this 25 March Run will be posted next week and we are going to make it as interesting as we can to make up for the delay.
Club AGM On the subject of the AGM, which traditionally has been somewhat ad-hoc and held as part of the Christmas Run, as President I believe that for the next meeting we need to have a more purposeful AGM forum separate from a Run to deal with some issues facing the Club for the future. This will also mean that the Christmas Run and Party will not be interrupted by formal proceedings.
One of the most important of these issues to be discussed are the MR2 Nationals which Queensland will be hosting in 2015. In my view we also need to have a discussion about whether we can afford to affiliate with CAMS or not (there are always questions about this and it is expensive), whether or not the Run schedule and type of activity is suitable or needs changing, how we can best maximise the membership benefits, are we looking to start a Historical Register (the 1985 AW11 is eligible for concessional registration next year!!), and generally what does a small club like this need to look like to survive in coming years when the cars are getting older and not being replaced.
Our Association Rules require we hold the AGM within six months of the end of our financial year, which will be 30 May this year.
My intention is therefore to call the AGM in early July and have it at a convenient location in Brisbane, but separate from the July Run date which is on the 20th, and is our annual moonlight drive. If anyone has an problems with this please let me know via PM. Nominations will be called by the Secretary at the required time before the meting for the various Committee positions.
Again I wanted to thank everyone for their forbearance in what has been a difficult time for me recently, and hopefully from now its onwards and upwards.
Walter
