2gr motor

Got a 2gr motor, 65xxxkms
has a slight tapping
brand new bearings, rings full rebuild to find source of tap
new timing chains etc
(probable oil gallerie blockage)

engine was replaced rather than tear down again

make a reasonable offer.

So did the full rebuild fix the tapping or does the engine still have it?

Must be somewhat serious if they replaced the entire engine. Is it a tapping or knocking noise? :)

Most probably the vvti controllers... It's a common problem with the 2gr mostly when they have not been serviced properly.

Sorry, ill explain the entire story.

    Car got traded
    had a tap,
instead of puting in a 3000$ used engine with warranty,
the decided it was something simple, had poor compression on one cylinder so engine out and tear down, found that cylinder had worn rings, so rings were replaced,
    engine back together,
    tapping still there
    engine was stripped and again
bearings, timing chains and one head was recod i believe
    re assembled

    tapping still there.
    instead of stripped again
    3000$ engine sourced and fitted.

the new foreman believe its a the vvti controller, or a blocked oil gallerie to the back head in one cylinder as that one cylinder had that much carbon build up on it it had valve marks in it- hence the head reco.

So basically is near brand new motor, it is running fine apart from the slight audible tap present.

Aaron, i will give that price to the service manager monday.
would you collect or organise shipping?
