That's the way I'd like to be, it just takes money and good health unfortunately (and time). :/

MR002 I used to change my sports cars every 3-4 years from 1970 to 1987. I had an AW11 for 3 years and I then bought an SW20 which I have had for 22 years. I thought they would become a classic in time, so I kept mine in immaculate condition, but still enjoyed driving it as it was meant to be. My MR2 has been loved by me every time I admire its styling or go for a spirited drive. To me it is priceless.
And that's what owning one of these gems is all about JC. You should not be worried about it becoming a classic and the monetary gain should you decide to sell it when you reach 90 and you can no longer drive it to it's 'ahem' full potential. It will always be a classic in your eyes....

I'm not 90 yet, but my eyebrows have started going a bit wonky; I've started to be lured in by the appeal of a comfy seat and strong air-con; and I've started making a noise when I get in or out of a chair!

Why sell your MR2 just because you reach 90? You could stick your walking frame in the passenger seat, ha ha.

Well I'm only 30, so that's what... 1/3 or a half the way to smelling like wee? It'd better be an MR2 with either leather or alcantara seats, normal fabric ones just won't do in that case!

Ha-ha....well I am a 72 year old enthusiast of MR2's and other sports cars and I haven't got the 'wee' smell yet, I hope. I have owned and enjoyed MR2's in the past and currently have a new Renault Clio RS200 Turbo that goes like stink. In my 'maturing' years I have always wanted to own a hot hatch before I get too old to drive. You would be surprised at how many older guys like me are still young at heart and own these sorts of performance cars. There are quite a few in the MR2 Club Australia wide and many of them are pretty hard to keep up with on a run (legally of course ). Wait until you reach 70 odd... I am sure your attitude towards us old farts will change......

'Twas the heater coil in the end, pishing fluid. Alas, I still have it on sale: that heater coil was no doubt an accident of my incompetent fumblings - I'm rubbish at working on cars and it's impossible to find someone to do the job properly (I was fixing up water leaks under the dash). It's time for a younger chap/chapette to take over.

^^^^ nah don't sell it. Every time I have to take her to a mechanic or auto electrician because something went wrong, I think maybe I should just cut my losses & sell her to someone who can do the work themselves. But then I pick her up after a week & 5 minutes down the road I have to apologize to her for thinking that. My little blue 2 isn't just a car,.............. she is fun, she makes me smile.......... most of the time............... and she came with a heap of great friends.............

That's what I used to think... maybe it's the French girl's fault? My passion has been diverted. [update] Haha, some cock-end is trying to convince me to sell it for $500... cash (but only this weekend)! Wowwww, I'm so tempted. :P

Sold. Found the right guy, he's a lovely bloke. Blimey, watching it drive off was torture! Thanks to everyone I spoke to on this board, you've all been very supportive, helpful, and an excellent community - my eternal thanks!
