Remote Central Locking

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has installed and if so, what is required to have the central locking on a 92 SW20 upgraded to remote central locking? Do I need to install an alarm?

Thanks

What does it have installed? Original or aftermarket?

Most of the SW's have key-operated central locking as standard. If that's not working, it will probably be the contacts in the sensor that turns with the key & sends the lock/unlock signal to the system - on some that is mounted directly at the key barrel, but some have it operated by the lever leading from to the lock mechanism (see some of MR2Shaz'z posts regarding the probs she had with her drivers door).
Most after-market remote systems can be adapted to operate the existing system (Mongoose, etc)

Thanks for the feedback so far guys. Looks like I might be missing the remote keys from the previous owners. Now looks like this might be harder to try and reset it all up as original. The deeper I go with this rebuild, the more demons I find from previous owners past :-(

All part of the process I guess lol

There was never a remote central locking from factory as far as I know.
key operated central locking was a common option although (meaning that when you put your key in the lock, both doors unlock/lock

Looks like mine has the keyed central locking. Time to find a alarm or remote unit to upgrade the sdub to hands free operations. I like the sound of a viper alarm, I think the 5704 was a good unit. Any thoughts guys?
