I'd personally steer away from 'performance springs' springs. Mate of mine didn't have much luck with them.

Wow, should be a monster. Tristan took Steve for a spin in his twin turbo beast, I think he is still trying to comprehend the experience!!

What intercooler setup are you going to be running?

How wide will the tyres be front and back?

Cant wait to see the finished product.

Cheers

I also "experienced" the twin turbo beast - far more than I desire - am after a daily driver I can have a lot of fun in! And also something i can fully engineer, certificate wise, so it's insurance friendly - in my eyes there's no point in doing it if I can't get it road-legal

Since you have a widebody why not use a 235 on the front? 215 seems a bit narrow considering the point of a widebody is to fit wider tyres than would fit with the standard guards.

Did my wheel width and offset calcs and came up with 215 - I had a 17" x 8 on the front of my standard MR2 pre-surgery and the 215 fitted OK. If I need more tyre then I will have to source some more, thogh I won't be doing that immediately - I figured that 8 x 25.4 was 203.2mm, so a 215mm gave me +/-5mm either side of the rim width, which seemed enough at the time.

The point of this widebody is to have a unique motor that I dreamt up as a project back in Feb - am hoping the 18 x 8" on the front will both fill the arch and be flush with the guards, same with th 19 x 10.5 at the back. If it turns out I shuold have gone wider/larger I guess I'll just have to wear it, but looking by eye/imagination and checking the specs of most of the widebodies around that present data, it seems they should suit. After all, it's the rims, not the tyres that fill the arches, is it not? Am sure I'll find out in any case once the suckers arrive!!

didn't mention that the new wheel 18 x 8 has a lower offset pusing the rim further out to make the flush fit, or close to it...

the 215 on the 8 inch rim might look a bit tucked in at the tread, but you can always get a slightly wider tyre when you replace them later on if required.

serious rubber out the back!!

I think the single turbo v6 will be plenty powerful.

Went for the Wilwood Stage II.5 lightweight rotors, aluminium top hats and all that jazz

http://www.wolfkatz.com/products.php?cat=25

Normally takes 10 days from order to receive, as with the calipers

Make sure you specify the colour though - I ordered black and they came in gunmetal, though with any luck they should match the Volks GTS when they arrive. They've reached Fedex's Belmont office but there's been a problem with customs related to the declared value amount on the package not matching my proof-of-payment docs. Hopefully should be sorted by Monday *crosses fingers* though most frustrating, as I really need to see if A they fit properly without needing coilovers and B the flushness is as I measured up.

GOOD (and bad) NEWS UPDATE

Wheels have finally arrived after 18 weeks.. WITH THE WRONG TYRES... [8~2] Thing is, the US supplier of the rims delayed the shipping (back in November) for an extra 5 weeks by saying that Yokohama had delivered to them the "wrong" tyres - the extra 5 week delay was to source the "correct" tyres. I don't know whether to laugh or cry!!

Basically the (poorly taken iPhone) pictures speak for themselves - the rims are awesome.. BUt the tyres at the back are just too big compared to the fronts; Ordered 19/275/30 at the back and 19/275/40 have turned up. Bear in mind the fronts have got 18/215/40, so obviously the rolling diameter is way bigger on the 40's so the difference in rim diameter is totally exagerated - looks like a dragster set up :(

Not sure at the moment to grab some bigger tyres on the front to compensate, or get smaller at the rear - guess I'll make that decision once the wheels are on the car at the bodyshop, hopefully get them there this Wednesday and see how well the fronts and backs fill the wheel arches...

I guess I'll reserve judgement until after I've seen them on gthe car - there may be a nice surprise in it for me?! At least the rear arch shuold be filled, and hopefully flushed too. If that's the case then I can at least source some S-Drives with a larger tyre wall dimension, say a 45 or a 50, to try and compensate - we'll see how the pics come out, hopefully later in the week

Cheers

wow, those rims look great, love the massive dish.

If you car has ABS, i think you should try and keep the front/rear rolling diamaters in close proportion to factory, as this can affect the performance of the ABS.

Cheers
