A minor milestone... Body work has been noted as finished; We pushed the car out into the sun and I did a quick sweep around the car taking iPhone photos for 'snagging' and to examine in great detail after I get home later. Started her up for the first time in about 10 months yesterday too - she just sparked right up after 2 seconds of turnover! awesome! Blew out about 8 months worth of fibreglass dust from the exhaust like..

Nice man you must be getting pretty excited by now... is looking really good! Glad to see you didn't take any shortcuts on this project and settle for anything less than perfect. Just wondering are you going to cut out the front wheel arches to vent air out along the doors or just leave it as is? Also have you considered doing a 2gr-fe turbo? would be a monster and as far as I'm aware a first in aus if not the world so far, certainly would do the car some serious justice:D Good to hear it still started fine after all this time too. This is gonna be one hell of a car mate, can't wait to see the final product!

Dudeman - colourwise I'm going for "Tornado Red" - it's the colour the 2009/2010 Golf GTi's are - a slightly darker than usual red i.e. not dark or cherry red, but not a bright Ferrari red either. Pic below is a decent example..  Regards the 2GR-FE turbo, I have discussed this option with the engine builder and we purposely opted for the 1MZ-FE turbo as the block, rods and pistons have all been treated to cope with the demands of a decent amoun of boost, all the engine parts are there and ready to go in (apart from the custom intercooler, piping and exhaust), and the engine block ewas a crate motor from new, having done only 10,000km, albeit in a +500rwhp twin sequential turbo format. The whole shebang will be stripped back to bare, re-built, balanced, installed, tuned and made good as part of the deal. And am looking for ~350 - 400 rwhp so this set up will provide the goods with any luck...
