Am looking at what I beleive is called "Tornado Red", paint code LY3D/G2 which is what the 2009/2010 Volkswagen Golf GTi's come in - it's a deep dark red, not metallic at all. At the start of the build when i was imagining the car, gun metal grey/anthracite with subtle yellow detailing came into my mind, (black leather seats with yellow stitch, yellow dash gauges, yellow brake calipers etc) but I went for the dark red and black mix - the interior has already been finished (which is black with red trim) so I'm (kind of) firmly sticking to the red/black theme...

Sorry Surok - no super white here mate!

Also, as I'm not having the engine bay painted at this stage (additinal cost/work to remove engine etc) then the red engine bay shuold be good enough for now. When the turbo V6 engine swap happens in abuot 6 months from now, that would probably be a good time to spray the engine bay and any other bits, as I'll be having some engine parts powder coated in the red/black theme too, so whilst it's empty it would be a good time to do it...

Also - WIDEMR; I thought your rims were Volks GTC?? Or have you since gone for the GTS??

I think I know the red you mean, it looks nice. Have you considered the Mazda metallic red? When lit up by the sun, really looks great.

Whatever colour, I think the car will look awesome with that unique body kit.

Nah never had GTC's, when it was black it had some gold multi spoke rodney jane wheels that Adrian now has, since then only GTS's

Updates...

Some bad news - it seems the paint-side of Fibrevision is packing up, leaving the body shop side of the business unable to function alone. Unfortunately this is a product of people just leaving their cars in Fibrevision's workshop for months on end, and not paying for incomplete works or works completed for that matter!

Sad, as Bruce is a fibreglass/bodywork genius.. So the baddest part of the bad news is that the painter ewwill be on leave until the end of March :( The good news is I'm first on the listr for a complete factory spray job come April, which will take two months to complete. So looks like the car won't be exterior-completed until June... For a moment there it looked like the whole job might be complete by the early March...

Anyway, went down to check out the newly dropped off lowered springs, but they hadn't been installed. The side sjirtrs however, haev been installed and look quality in the flesh - again the pics don't really do it much justice but here they are anyway... body work is due to be complete in 3 weeks...

Latest pics - bodywork due for completion next week...























Still seems to me tha the pictures don't do the bodywork any justice, as the curves and depths in the flesh are much more defined - albeit I am onlyusing an iPhone camera like.

why spring/shock combo after all this extensive body work i would hav got some coilovers for flexibility on ride height
cars looking great seems like another widebody is taking shape nearby too....

Almost judging from the shape/engine looks like a Honda CRX?

Looks great Daz! Will really have some presence on the road when its done!
