New Tyres :D
Just picked up some new kumho KU36's. Could not be happier with how they perform, coming from Falken FK452's im very impressed on the difference. Best part is I only paid $177 ea compared to $250 ea for the Falken's. Just thought id share :D

Let us know how they are after a few heat cycles. That will be the true test.

Had Falken FK452's, sold them - they were rubbish for the money. Felt stodgy in corners, wet/damp grip was abysmal and dry grip not a lot better. The 100$ chinese tyres I have now grip better...go figure.

I use Bridgestone RE01 tyres on standard size wheels on SW20 GT-S Turbo Rev 3.They are very good.

Hmm interesting, they sound like great tyres, but I've been told by tyre places that they don't hold up to heat cycling very well, or grip well without any heat in them, and that Bridgestone's new RE002 is now the tyre to beat. Reckon you'll get much life out of them?

Had a few ppl running the RS-Rs now. Seephan, LMT, and myself are now running them, and for the money, they're pretty awesome. Don't need heat like the KU36, grip well and much more predictable better on the limit than the KU36. Not tried the Bridgestones, but they "street" tyre of choice for all the racers at WTAC this weekend seems to be the Advan AD08. G-Man on here just bought some so i'd be interested to hear his thoughts on teh grip!

I've had 16" RE001s on my car for two years now, as a daily driver. They are absolutely fantastic! The only reason i bought them was because i got a free flight with the bridgestone promotion... That's a whole other story...
about to grab a set of Federal 595s... I know they won't be as good as the RE001s, but they still seem to have good reviews.

G-Man on here just bought some so i'd be interested to hear his thoughts on teh grip! Did someone mention my name? Yes, I'm VERY impressed with the grip levels of the AD08s! Unfortunately I can't comment on what they're like compared to other high end performance tyres (KU36, RSRs, etc) as my previous set was the Toyo T1Rs on stock 15" rims. As a "Street" tyre though they are simply OUTSTANDING! Steering response is incredibly sharp, feedback is excellent, wet grip is on par with the T1R's if not even better! I've found the feedback to be very good in wet conditions, with very progressive loss of grip as you approach the limit (i.e. They won't suddenly "let go" then suddenly "grip" again catching you out). Surprisingly I also find the ride comfort to be as good as when I was running the 15"s. Dry grip is yet to fully tested as I haven't been to a track but what I've felt so far.... well let's just say it feels like the grip could rip the chassis apart from hard cornering . It's VERY VERY good, especially for a tyre that still works in "realworld" conditions. Bad points, like any other high performance tyre they tramline quite a bit, they're a bit noisier but quite quiet compared to other high end tyres. Also we'll see how long they last, but I've heard that they have a surprisingly long life. We'll see. An interesting point though is Yokohama warn that you cannot expose them to temperatures below -10°c. This seems to be the Achilles heal as they apparently become very brittle at those temps. But if you want a high performance tyre which still performs in the wet, I highly recommend them! Dylan got them for me for a very competitive price (As good as Tyrerack). If you can spare the extra cash you won't regret it!

Do you guys have access to getting RE11s? these stones are by far the best tire they make. big_al_92t Hmm interesting, they sound like great tyres, but I've been told by tyre places that they don't hold up to heat cycling very well, or grip well without any heat in them, and that Bridgestone's new RE002 is now the tyre to beat. I'm not sure if they are available officially in Aus, the Bridgestone .au website doesn't list them. It's a shame, I've heard very good things about them. One of the reasons I chose the ADVAN AD08s as they are available retail here.

Sounds like the Advan's will be my next tyres. Modest sizes (ie: 215F, 235-245R on 17x7.5" Wide rims) should hopefully improve my 2's grip tremendously. Got some run-of-the-mill Federal's on there currently, not exactly confidence inspiring..

For the price no thanks. I've had 595 RS-R's on the back of my 2 for a good 12-15000kms if not more, and they still have good life left in them. I'd probably see another couple of thousand out of them before they hit the markers. They get a workout in the wet for sure..occasionally do get a spin up in the dry in 1st WOT and have seen a few corners in their time. For $240 or so for 255/40/17's I know what I'm getting next.

Mind you, Dylan was able to get me the AD08's for under $200 AUD per tyre! BUT that was a while ago when our dollar peaked at $1.10 USD or whatever it got to, plus shipping added a bit to the final spend. But still, the whole exercise worked out to be not much more expensive than if I had bought the RSRs.
