To have raced and lost, is better then to never have raced at all........

I have been thinking about the regularity and still think that what Steve wanted to achieve is right.

A little background info for those who did not attend, Steve wanted to have everyone on the track at the same time so that it will give everyone a taste of 'real' door to door racing without the aggressive/competitive nature, therefore removing the possibility of damaging anyone's car. Also the overall timing difference is about 13 sec I remember.

I understand that it sounds daunting for those who have never raced but then this is the closest to competitive racing you will ever get. I believe the whole idea behind Steve ever organising different events over the two days is to take out the repetitiveness of other track days where all you do is go around and around, and he done a great job.

Fortunately I had my first regularity at Wakefield July last year and it was so much more fun than track days. It was a two day event first qualifying, it was really just trying to see what times people are comfortable with and the second day was racing. We had a rolling start in the rain so to avoid collisions and then its 6 hrs of fun (the total hrs for the team of 4 or 5 cars not the hrs any one individual have to run).

Just my 2c

Agreed! Steve had the right idea for this event. I was talking to some people after the regularity as well and we all thought it would have been more fun with everyone on the track together as originally planned. We didn't have too many cars so it would have been safe. The real challenge is trying to keep times consistent whilst dodging slower cars and letting faster cars past. So having to push harder on some corners to make up for time lost elsewhere. With so few cars on the track I didn't really get to experience that this year.

Just to give an example, at the 6 hrs event the fastest was a 1.10 RX7, and in my team there was a 60 or so Robert who drove an Impreza RX with an average time about 1.23 so the spread is about the same also it was raining on and off. There are even more spread of cars from Rick Shaw racing RX7 to Ford Capri and Toranas. The more amazing thing is that Robert but the end he was 2 sec faster. So obviously we didn't win but who cares.

I not playing the chilli burger challenge! Leave that to the madmen.
Here are a few photo's I like from the trackday. It was a blessing my car was out of the running or we may have never enjoyed the photo's from the top of the hill. As I have done the last two events, I will again be asking for some people to run around and provide photography services. It will involve access to all parts of the track as Anthony/Tom and myself did. The top of the hill is one of the most exciting places to watch and photograph the cars. They are not very quick but you are very close and there is great undulation with plenty of option to take shots of the cars with plenty of attitude and a brilliant backdrop of the mountains. I think some video camera's set up would also bring it alive in 2015.
Thanks for the comments on the regularity. Its great to see people understand why its there and the motivation it has produced. Exactly why its there. There is a view the regularity is too aggressive the scoring system but this is not true. If someone came off during the ho lap shoot out, this would have been just as disastrous. You could loose from 4-40 seconds by coming off during the hot lap shootout so there are two events which require more from the driver than the car. Still, I will have a look at scoring system to see what I can do but it will not be fastest car wins MTC. It will be a combination of driver skill, patience, consistency, preparation before the car rules the event or there will be no chance for 75% of the entrants which is not they way its meant to be.
Some of my favorite photo's
