ouch....how old was the pump? new with eng? genuine? hope the engine escaped any other damage that could be caused by timing belt+oil pump failure.

^ thats what concerns me.
Feed back on the oil pump condition would be interesting.
Was the nut on the pulley torqued down of the engine in a vice ?
Never heard of a seize but many that the nut has come off

Also to guys using ARP main studs, how did you get around it not clearing the sump on the gearbox side? I had used an aftermarket sump-gasket and that worked but after replacing the oil pump and consequently removing the sump I resorted to using the sealer and it did not work. It pours out the back and you can see marks where the sump has hit the main studs.

On mine (gen3) I was able to just notch out where the studs touched the upper pan. Not sure if this is possible on the gen2 tho
If the gasket you had worked id just get another

Well that's one way of doing it! I ended up making my own gasket out of a thickish sheet of cork, it worked. Only reason I didnt drive my Mr2 home today is because bleeding the clutch is a bitch!

Glad the engine is still alright dude!
Yeh took me a awhile to find the bleed nipple, I used the one-man bleeder kit from Supercheap Auto. Just don't open the nipple too much, and get someone to pump the clutch while you watch the bleeder hose for air (yourself watching the hose for fail safe in case air goes back) and top up the reservoir.
