hello guys, what are your thoughts and experiences regarding sw20 side mount IC in terms of effectiveness in reducing intake temps under constant barrage of boost more of track rather than quick pulls at the stop lights or freeways)

will only run a high flow ct26 or high flow ct15b out of a ijzvvti single turbs (i have a strict rule of only running a toyota turbo so please try not to deviate and suggest garrets/ precision etc etc)

say around 18-20 psi of boost

will not run a W2A intercooler, i have an ebay special ryt now but myt be able to get a used good condition Greddy IC for a good price so please dont suggest EMS/ KO etc etc versions of sidemount IC

what are the main differences in design of core and end tanks? and how will it be better than the other? ( tho they look identical from the outside)

car has the usual bolt ons - aftermarket ecu, high flow ct26, NA cams, fuel system, intake, exhaust and IC

would the difference be marginal, minimal regardless of price and bang for buck

Cheera guys!

In short, yes.  Ebay core very similar to Greddy core (not really much difference), though the pipes are of better quality/fitment (Greddy).
However, you're going to heatsoak both SMICs on the track, even if you have a fan fitted.

W2A or trunk mounted are best for track, there are few on here who have them fitted and track their cars.

And why bother with a high-flow ct26 or ct15b?  Both are out of their efficiency range at 18 - 20 psi...ct20b is slightly better or go aftermarket (dare I mention gt28rs? :P).  Toyota turbos are/were good, but there are better ones out there...

If you have the Ebay one I dont think it would be worth changing, would only be a minimal change at most
Be better to look at adding a water spray to the IC or even water injection

If you must use a Toyota turbo a steel wheeled CT20B would be good. Boost it up past 20psi on e85 with your aftermarket ecu.

If you're running it on the track, I'd go a trunk mount A2A to be honest. The safety buffer is a lot higher & I'm sure the more consistent & low IAT's will do your motor a good favour by way of longevity (not only power).

W2A is good, but once it heatsoaks, it takes longer to recover. An A2A won't have lag issues considering you're using a "small" Toyota based turbo. You'll also maximise flow to your radiator & reduce the amount of additional parts that can fail (eg water pump).

if your trying to use what you have stick with the ebay core and get better clamps and joiners as they are ****..
a water spray or water injection will probably be a good addition to the system.

thanks for the response guys! all noted. the main reason i asked is because i myt be able to get a greddy ic for cheap, and am  trying to work out whether itll be cost effective or not. looks like ill stick to the ebay core and get better joiners, piping and clamps.

i really want to start taking the car to the tracks but its still a daily driver atm aswell. i havent decided whether i will get another car as a daily. i got done by the EPA in the past (the works) and it was the longest headache ive ever had lol do not want to go thru dat again hence the reason for the modest/sleeper build i wanna do.

but if i decide to get another daily which im sort of leaning to i already have a spare motor that i and a mate of mine 3sgeturbo will rebuild. my choice of turbo will be the garret gtx3037 with a .64 turbine housing running external gate and will most likely trunk mount the IC

sounds like a waterspray kit would do the trick for now cheers

Did you upgrade the fan to a SPAL?

yeah im using a 9 inch SPAL, i should probably get the air guide plate that goes between the IC and the side vent
