The VIC Club traditionally does not have a Run or Event in January, however to satisfy the desire to get the MR2 out and blow the cobwebs away we have had a "Claytons" event (that is a Run or Cruise when you're not having a run or cruise!!!) for a few years now. 
 
So here it is: This year’s “Claytons” event, an MR2 Club Picnic and if you have an MR2 you’re invited!!
 
Date: Sunday 27 January 2013 (Australia day long weekend).
Meet: Maccas, in Frankston, corner Nepean Highway & Wells Street, Frankston.
Time: 9.30am for breakfast/coffee, for a 10.00am sharp departure.
Bring: Your MR2, partner/passenger/friend, UHF Radio - Channel 16, Picnic Lunch, rug, chairs, drinks, sun screen.
 
Prizes for the best Picnic Setup.
 
We will be visiting the Sorrento Cemetery, Normanby Road Sorrento, for a Cemetery Tour.  There will be questions following the Tour.  Then to Watts Cottage in Watts Park (next to Sorrento Museum) for a picnic lunch.  Enter Watts Park via Ocean Beach Road.  We think we have parking organised, but in Sorrento during summer you can never predict what it will be like on the day.  Please check as we have a couple of alternatives for parking.
 
A picnic lunch is encouraged (BYO everything) but there are loads of Take Away shops close by.
 
In the afternoon we will come home via Arthur’s Seat and Red Hill.

I'll be coming to this one for sure, and to finish it off I'll take a short sea cruise home to Geelong via the Queenscliffe ferry to get in some practice for the Nationals lol.

I'll tag along. Seeings I live in Red Hill, just down the road from Arthurs Seat. I'd feel rude otherwise.

aawww I used to live in Frankston................... If I was down there I'd come ................ but I didn't have my MR2 then.

If you can't make the cruise and picnic lunch at Sorrento, come to the start and say ..... HI!
 
There will be a slight modification to the route.  We will now back track a couple of kms and pick up the new Peninsula Freeway (no tolls) to Sorrento.  If you haven't tried it yet this is your chance.
 
It will make a great photo opportunity, 15 plus MR2s on a new freeway.
 
 

bummed i cant make this event after it being in my backyard. due to family commitments
ill try and come down to the premeet at maccas.
the new peninsula link is great ive been on it roads are quite smooth. ill see if i can make an appearance for some pics.
if your going via nepean hwy to portsea then be prepared for some traffic congestions and parking availabilities.
