Just a quick note to anyone looking at getting any auto electrical work done. DO NOT visit Deering Autronics
deering dot com dot au

I went to get an aircon regas, and they took my car for a joy ride, then after doing so they decided to play around under the hood of my MR2 SW20 and they have caused extensive damage to my air intake on the turbo.

they openly admitted to causing the damage and claimed they couldn't work out how to fix the issue so just gave me my keys back. after a lot of obvious arguments they agreed to fix the issue as they accepted that they were at fault (air con regas doesn't even need access to rear engine bay on MR2) now they have called me to say they definitely didn't do it and too bad.

whats even worse... they didn't even get my air con working!

Jandakot branch. I still cant believe they gave me the keys back and it took me driving away to find out it was damaged, then was told when I got back "Oh yeah we noticed it didn't run right when we were done" and yet they let me drive off with it..

still chatting with my insurance to try get this sorted :( looks like a 2 week wait for the required parts too.

Lodge a complaint with the department of fair trading. Its the only way to go.

Make a written complaint to their head office, they'll have to make a response to it.

Can you update the title to include the branch pls - like just ace says, its most likely a franchised business and giving a broadbrushed 'company X are rubbish' isn't really fair.

Post up some pics of the damage. They shouldn't have taken your car for a drive anyway, whoever did that has broken the law. A test drive to fix your aircon? Yeah right.

Unless there looking for or fixing a leak, compressor and some lines are there.

What damage did they do to your intake?

where the air intake connects to the turbo, it has been torn off completely. I suspect they were looking for the compressor in the back and took off the intake using something like a sharp screw driver.

only reason I know they took it for a joy ride is they admitted it went over 4k rpm before they worked on it, then they themselves noticed it didn't after their work.. why would you need to take a car over 4k rpm when you moved it from a car park into a garage in the same car park

I will be contacting the department of fair trade today to hopefully have this resolved.

So you dont know that they did take it for a joy ride? Just that they had the motor over 4k?

I used Nick from Autobreeze to fix air con, did a great job and knows his way around the mr2 air con system. He is mobile too.

He located and fixed the air con leak in 15 mins, the "experts " I took it to said it would be thousands as a dash removal is required...

It's hard finding a decent and honest mechanic where you are not paying for their tuition.

Hope you get it resolved.

Cheers

I can also vouch for Nick from Autobreeze.
No nonsense, good service and fair price and like artymr2 says he comes to you.
